Question How do I rid myself of...

my pain in the arse GZ250......

all i want to do is be rid of Rawberry she has sat outside for over 3 weeks now doing nothing, ive been cheating on her with the ZZR, have tried trade me the T&E but no one wants her (cant blame them) if i take her in for a trade in ill be lucky to get $2000 for her and i know she is worth at least $3000

i wont lie she does have a little niggle every now and then to strip my pocket of hundreds of dollars at a time, but she is now running sweet, i just want a new toy

so to pick your brains what helps to sell a bike? or the sad alternative cut my losses and trade in and loose about $1000
I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.

Then lets go to Woodcocks, I'll ride

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

If nobody wants her and 2k is all you can get - then that's what its worth.

Personally Id just take her to the shop and flip it.

Look at it this way - if you don't sell it, you're not going to get any joy out of it - it's just gonna sit there. Worse comes to worst, trade it in.

When selling bikes, clean it up, take good photos, and then chuck it on for a shit high price. Should sell well, it's a 250 right? Ive seen ones in atrocious conditions pull way over $2500.

yes but its a cruiser 250 that has over 30 000km on the clock and its only a 2000

its really a chick bike and you would think with the number of chicks getting into riding they would want a nice low learner friendly bike with a bullet proof engine......

im almost tempted to throw it down the road but the excess isnt worth it.

30,000 km is nothing. Chuck it on for $3000 and see what happens. Make sure you take some good photos of it though.

suck the loss & get rid of it. The longer it stays, the more pissed off you'll be that you're nor riding what you really want to ride.

It isn't worth 3K. Get realistic with your price and it will sell.

It's not worth 3K, sweetie. Just take the hit and get what you can for it.

When do you get your full licence?

As with all things in life the market sets the price.

And as you are trying to trade during the non-riding season, you won't get top price.

Basically you have a couple of options:

    1. Sell Privately at the market value of the bike - yes it might be a couple of hundred less than in summer but listen carefully YOU SHOULD ALSO BUY YOUR NEW BIKE FOR LESS THAN IT WOULD COST YOU IN SUMMER as well.

    2. Trade it now and lose any real negotiating power you have - but you will have your new bike (and realistically it'll only cost you a couple of hundred extra)

    3. If you can manage it buy your new bike now at winter prices and hold onto your GZ until summer and then sell it.

Personally whilst option 3 looks the best I would recommend it, you actually stand to lose money rather than save it. Waiting till summer will still cost you Rego and a warrant, possibly insurance, interest payments, plus you are putting all of your faith into the idea that youhave accurately assessed the summer market value of your bike.

Personally, I think Option 1 is the best, I'd put it on at $2200 no reserve and let the market decide for you.

That being said in my 2 upgrades I've always traded - but I'm impatient and don't like waiting.

.... back in green and feeling great ....

Perhaps show us some photos so a more accurate price can be estimated?

There's a few other GZ250s on Trademe going for $3500 or more, they're newer than yours and have less mileage, but you could chuck it on there for $3000 and see what happens (or have you already been doing that and have had no luck?).
