    Bike equivalant of headlight flashing

I have just had a discussion in a group about flashing headlights to warn of a police car ahead

One guy said that the bike equivalant is tapping your helmet... ive never heard of that, but it seemed plausible

anyone heard of this or do this?

Haven't heard of tapping the helmet although I've made that gesture to the odd cager who I thought wasn't using all their brain power.
Hand above head rotating the hand (as in rotating flashing police lights) generally does the trick as far as a warning though.

While tapping the helmet or the siren hand signal are commonly recognised forms of warning of police,

Flashing your own headlight does exactly the same job and more people will probably understand what you're on about.

I flash them and then wave downwards vertically "slow down" for a hazard, or do the vertical siren signal.

doesnt seem to be really well known except in certain groups but we all stick our leg out.

I just do the slow down motion with flat palm out going up and down as if for a hazard ( which they certainly are )

I think its something to do with interfering with a officer performing his duty or something similar!
