diverting the course of the law or something.

all you're really doing is enforcing it because what kind of twat would keep speeding after being warned there's a cop further down the road?

I place the bike into autopilot, stand on the seat, pull out my handy semaphore flags and quickly signal "Watch out, there is a Cop approaching, and you may get a ticket if you are going to fast". Failing this I do the Hand rotating thing.

of course if you had a 12volt Lcd message board mounted on the front you could type out "watch out there is a constabulary officer in the general vicinity who may apprehend you for traffic misdemeanors" dependent on how fast you can type in gloves of course.

I`ll flash the lights, although now it seems not many people bother to do it as there used to be.
Had a few cars flash their lights to warn me of a radar or camera van, which shows that there are still some good car drivers out there.
    Let the good times roll

In the UK with the people I rode with, sticking your leg out was used as a "thank you" gesture when passing traffic for people who let you in or moved over to let you past. Not sure how well understood it was by the cagers tho...

Doing a twirly above the helmet does it for me, although it may stop it backfiring on you if you raised a leg...not so obvious to plod if he's managed to drag his eyes off the radar readout ...

Oh.... A while ago I waved or flashed to a group of sports bikes and got this signal back. It was new to me and I thought he was cocking his leg as in what a dog does. Well I was obviously wrong.

NZ roads are so bumpy that oncoming traffic always looks like they are flashing you. Drives me nuts.
