Bringing a german GS1200 to NZ

    Hello,
I'm about to ship my german GS to NZ. Does anybody know if I have to change my headlights as we do drive on different sides of the road?
Do I need a complete new lighting unit or is it possible to adjust?
And: How about the speedo? Just a sticker on it or has it be renewed to read Miles per hour?

    Questions, questions ...

    Thx + regards
    Juergen

    We use kilometers here
The headlight I don't know, but I suspect that you might have to change it.

Headlight will have to be modified or changed, speedo's ok.

As they said above, it doesn't matter what yer speedo reads in. Here's a Link to the Land Transport Safety Authority site FYI.

Your head could be a problem as dip will point the wrong way as we ride/drive on the left. This Dude (WTB: Headlight GSX1400) is having that problem with his German GSX1400.

You'll need another headlight, but everything else will be fine. Is that the twin shock GSX-1200? If so, they were sold new in NZ, so a replacement headlight should be readily available

If it is temporary then you can get away with it being the german light.

Permanent import, then try getting your replacement light from england before you set off.

    Otherwise chance it, they may not notice... my german R100gs has german lights and my new transalp had euro light until i complained;

It is only the lens that is different......
Oh and we got taxcollectors behind every tree strictly enforcing SPEEDING crimes.....
Autobahn speeds here are rewarded here with instant loss of licence, so don't change your Kraut licence, get a kiwi one from scratch.....that way you can lose 1 , but keep the other.......

I think his bike is a Beemer R1200GS judging by his profile.

You will need a dip beam to the left headlamp. I had a BMW that had a European headlight and I had to pay $80 for a new lens but on the GS I think you have an all in one oval unit. If you have to get the whole unit you will pay about 150 Euros for one from the UK.

Wouldn't panic too much (unless you want it dipping left instead of right)
My trumpy lenses were US right dipping and even the ltsa missed it when it was first registered here !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Is the bike staying here, or just coming over for a short trip?
