Yeah. The jump still freaks me out. Logic tells me I'm not going to get launched into space on it but just the way it looks means no matter how determined I am not to slow down for it, I've still never hit it at anything more than 70kph ... usually 60.

Last month I had the need to get on the road and it was very important that I didn't run into any police or traffic patrols. I took the Old West Coast Road from Christchurch out to Waddington. Very straight road and very safe. I saw about five or six other vehicles and it's about a 50 mile return leg.

As others have suggested, Old tai tapu road is a good place to start, get used to riding or clean the cobwebs out of your bike. Was recommended to me, from an older seasoned rider and its great

Thanks rollestonchick, I'll bear that in mind next time. For me the equation is scan ahead, to the left and right of the road for parked cars or vans, especially parked in the shade under trees or hedges. Then, if any vehicle appears on the horizon assume the worst, and if I'm going over the brow of a hill or around a corner, also assume the worst case scenario that it's an unmarked car etc..
