when your clip ons break off in the middle of nowhere it lets u get decent size spanner on the triple clamp so u can ride home steering with the spanner. without that indentation it would be too difficult.

At the risk of being hassled for a serious reply, heh...

Place to put your fuel cap if it's the type that comes right off (rather than just swivels up)?

OK, I'll also come up with a smart ass answer too...

It's Suzuki's way of making the bikes cheaper by leaving out a bit of the tank, also costs less to fill and makes it a bit lighter.

You are ALL so wrong. I cant believe the sarcastic and tongue in cheek answers being bandied around this thread. Its a serious question and deserves a serious reply.

Please accept my apologies on behalf of all these guys and gals who cant take anything seriously.

The indentation on your tank has a very practical use which I am surprised that no one has told you of before... it is your speeding / parking infringement ticket tray. Any tickets you recieve can be placed here and by the time you get home nature has taken care of all your problems. Please feel free to pass this important information on to your friends

so how many dents like these are in Jrandoms tank?
I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.

As her voluptuous breasts rock backwards and forwards on the tank in time to his shuddering thrusts, she cries out with pleasure a little more with each rolling hill of ecstasy building to a volcano and finally erupting, washing wave upon wave of lava down her naked body, a few after shocks later she relents and slips in the sweat on the tank spent, totally in love with Enrique.

it's actually a gap for the mills and bloom on womens model bikes.

Nice theories, but they’re actually “Diversion Indents”! Aesthetic features to divert your attention away from the poor build quality of the bikes!
