Can anyone make me a luggage frame - KTM690sm

Was wondering if anyone would be able to make me a luggage frame for the arse of my KTM. I just want to be able to use soft panniers but need something to keep them off the exhausts. I haven't been able to find anything suitable online and dont want to be shafted by some random engineer. There's some decent bolts where the handrails are on the tail which could be used to mount it.

Is there someone out there who's good at this stuff that's willing to make me one for a fair price?

I had considered that. I flicked them an email about two months ago and they hadn't had the chance to look at the 690sm yet. Wonder if it'd be worth the trip...

Don't know if they still do, but the deal used to be that if you loaned them your bike to jig they would give you a set of L brackets FOC (and maybe a pack frame, if you are really lucky) and seeing as they retail for around $150 from memory I'd say it would be worth a trip!

That would be handy. Dunno about a pack rack on one of these though. KTM have done such a tidy job of the tail that I cant see how they'd attach one securely. You'd have to chop holes in the thing which i'd rather not do.

The 990 has a luagge frame available, along with top plate, apparently givi compatible...

Does the 690 not have that? *looks* hahhahaha, fooool, got the wrong model mmmm other possibility I guess its looking at the 990 for inspiration. What sort of bolts does it have on the top of the tail, as thats how at least part of the 990's bolts on (the grab rail bolts I believe). There is the standard pic on the ktm.co.nz website, just look under the 990.

Ventura generally come up with something really clever that doesn't involve cutting anything. They'll tell you more or less straight away if anything needs cutting.

The 690 has the accessory top case bracket, but errr I think you can picture in your head what a skinny 'tard would look like with a whopping great 46 Litre Givi top box sitting on it!
Would prefer to be able to use panniers to keep the weight lower (and less retarded looking).

Had a reply from the Ventura guys. They're going to harass their local dealer to play with one, they dont want mine.

As for the 990... well I guess fat chicks need loving too, but i'll stick with the skinny ones

I is going to stick a 52L box on the back The effect of a box is rather interesting. Even quite empty, it lightens the front/weighs down the rear (), and makes it more reluctant to change direction, but also makes it more planted in corners as it won't quickly change direction.

Im in Hamilton and have just been contacted by Dold Industries (Ventura). They will be using my bike as a guinea pig next week.
By the way I did buy the standard KTM rear bracket and tail pack. Had to wait ages for them and the bracket was very expensive. I'm sure the Ventura option will be better

yeah I saw the prices. Bracket here was about $240. Bracket from the US was US$59.
