    hmmm. Good thinking. Perhaps an option long term. Might need a couple of summers for her to learn and be competent. At least bikes don't have a reverse gear, she's crap at backing a car!

    get her a 250, and what better time to improve/teach riding is spending two weeks around SI. means you can carry enoguh gear, due if you both plan on going on the vfr i hope she knows how to pack very very lite

    KLR 650 cheap as chips, enduro so perfect for exploring NZ roads and bloody reliable, can carry plenty of gear, big fuel tank ( should get 400ks).
