Fuck that! I got Avgas about 4 weeks ago for $2.51 / litre. Bro, get yourself a race licence ( a fair dinkum Motorsport / Motorcycle New Zealand one ) and go and buy it from Ardmore airfield like I do.

I've only ever filled the bike while sitting on it. Have NEVER got off it, and never been asked to either. If they ask me to get off my bike, I'll get off their forecourt and go somewhere else. Without trying to sound like a redneck, most staff at gas stations a muncha's who don't give two fucks what you do as long as you fork over the coin. Hell, I've spent 20 minutes washing the company truck with the windscreen brush on several seperate occasions, and then gone in to pay for the gas, and they never said "boo".

I'll accept that I have to prepay or something at 2 or 3am, but I never prepay, I just leave the card there, and say, "I'll pay when I have filled". (Probably helps I never take the helmet off, and walk out immediately, giving them zero time for arguments

Even thats a rarity. Most will let me fill up immediately, and this works across brands, fuel stations etc. Maybe aucklanders are a friendly bunch?

edit: oh, and I fill up while straddling the bike (how else do you get it exact each time?) and with all my gear on, unless I have a reason to take it off (ie, the gas station is a proper stop).

Stuff the pre-pay. The bike only takes 15 litres normally. I just stand there with the nozzle in the bike. Most of the servo's I use realise that it's just not worth the hassle for bikers to ride off (20 litres max).

Beside's I only use the visa so I only want to unbutton once......... if I have to unbutton the wets more than once, I'll NOT be a happy customer.

Asking for the manager's always a good move.

Nup, never have this problem around Glenfield / Albany. Never pre-pay, just get off, pick up the nozzle and start filling. Don't take my helmet off anymore either. Caltex are my choice for overall buying experience.

We'll all be heading this way shortly when petrol runs out anyway.

Pretty simple solution, just get a mobil card. I've had one for over 2 years now. Great things, can fill up whenever you want but best of all you get approx 5-10c a litre off (depending on where you fill up, its referenced to the cheapest price in your region). Go onto the website and apply.

In alex I just use the truck stop, don't have to deal with anyone then and can fill up 24/7. That is for diesel for the van though, the local mobil has the pay at pump mobil card option though.

F*ck Mobil and their card. I was a regular customer till this week.

Greenlane has just nixed the pay at the pump and appear to have gone to permanant pre-pay.

I went inside and enquired. Was told I have to pre-pay now please.
'Nah, both BPs in Ellerslie and the Shell in Greenlane have excellent driveway service without this bullshit. See ya round.'

    Only as a last resort.

Was in Vancouver, Canada recently. Since Feb this year all fuel stations over there are prepay because of the drive offs........... a bloody pain in the ass. I recon it will go the same way here one day .

    he has ulterior motives

I refuse to pre-pay... walk inside, wallet on counter, look at them, I'll pay when I have filled. Walk back out and onto bike (don't give them a second to say anything else). Normal process continues from there.

However, this is the last (and unusual resort) normally. Normally, roll up, lift visor, bike into neutral, bike off, and while sitting astride, lift pump, inset into tank, and eventually they get the idea.

Sometimes they do have to accept the pumping from inside, sometimes they are busy, but eventually most are fine (without having to walk inside twice).

    I hate BP. wankers.
