" Life is not a rehearsal, it's as happy or miserable as you want to make it"
Bail is when you're allowed to go home after being charged with some offence (normally a fairly serious one) - but there's conditions i.e. to be at your address between say 8pm and 8am, to present yourself at the door when the cops check up on you, not to drink etc.
IF you don't like the conditions? -Tough, the option is to stay in the cell.
Which means the cops can check you're home at anytime during the night between 8pm and 8am and if you have the condition not to drink booze they can check that too.
And if you breach those conditions enough you may well end up cooling your heels in a cell until you finally go to court.
So... a bail check when the cops knock on your door to check you are (a) home and (b) complying with any other conditions.
And lots of crims don't like bail checks - and let you know when you knock on the door at 1am.
Sucks being a crim on bail eh?![]()

Usually it entails a curfew as part of their bail conditions, so the cops go around at all hours of the night to make sure they are abiding by their conditions. For those that have been on bail for months waiting for things to be resolved it can get just a tad annoying being woken up by the fuzz every night. (Especially if that cop was the one that had previously chased you down the road waving his heat seeking moisture missile at you).
Once they are on home D they get a nice little electronic ankle bracelet that gets monitored by Chubb, which means no more nightly visits from the fuzz.
The whole idea of the bail curfew checks is to make sure the little shite is tucked up safely in bed and not out offending.
You sir do not have the proper mentality to be a full-blown sorry-arsed cheese-dick mofo loser shit-head crim.
THEY whinge and want bail, agree to almost anything to get it cos they don't want to end up un custody for weeks or months.
THEN when they do get it they revert to type (and having a childish mentality) the don't want to adhere to the conditions by being home when they should be and being sober (if it is part of the conditions)
And of course with burglars a curfew interferes with their 'work' ability.
And like your average 10 year old they have always got the excuses:
"I was asleep and never heard you knock"
"I was home but must have had the stereo up too loud to hear you"
"It's my cousins birthday so I thought it would be OK to have a few drinks"
"I phoned the police station and they said it would be OK for me to go up to my aunties for the weekend (yeah right!).
So hence why regular bail checks are done at random times - and more than once a night cos if they thought they were only going to be checked once they would be out the back door as soon as you left the first time.
Sometimes after a bail check the cops do a lap of the block near the crims place and come back for a second check about 10 minutes later and spot din-a-ling walking away from his house.
It's hysterical to hear the coughing and spluttering from ding-a-ling as he tries to come up with an explanation as to why only 10 minutes after a bail check he is a block away from home heading into town....![]()

hahaha excellent read.
The restrictions placed on the crim are related to the circumstances of offending, ergo if he was pisssed when he smashed something/assaulted somebody then 'no alcohol' clause.
Of course if they ain't happy with that then it's the remand cells instead.
So it's a win-win for us as there's still no alcohol for him.![]()
