Got shot in the back with a paintball gun this afternoon on the way home from work.
Waiting at lights to turn right from Onewa rd into Birkenhead ave, car pulled up behind, then pulled out to go straight ahead. *THWAP* shot in the backpack as they came past about 1m from me. Took off after the bastards who had to stop at the next lights and did the expected "what the french toast was that?!". Three poly's, in their 30's all acting the man. Back seat passenger started to open the door as though going to get out so just walked the bike backwards, got their plate, did a U turn a parked up 50m down the road and *555'd them. Followed it up with a formal complaint at the cop shop immediately afterwards.

Ixion is totally right about this, you're being a bit hypocritcal saying you can't judge someone by their skin colour but you can judge someone by their economic standing. How much money a parent has doesn't decide whether or not they're a good parent, either. Shit parents raise shit kids, not poor or rich parents.

The people that I know who would be most likely to do this are white, and have a fair bit of money, they are just incredibly stupid and have no values because 'daddy will sort it'.

I agree with some of what your saying, BUT, generalisations/stereotypes didn't just pop-up out of nowhere, theyr'e there because.....well they are quite often more truthful than people like to admit, PLUS I totally believe that beneficiaries breed beneficiaries, not the rule but mostly.

No, it's not. That is just a middle class cringe. And one which I find personally insulting. I grew up in a home that was genuinely economically deprived, to an extent unimaginable to you. Even then we were not as poor as some people of the older generation. Until you have seen your own mother fallen asleep at her sewing machine after working at it for 48 hours straight; or watch a widow lady trudge 6 miles through the rain, on foot, to deliver the cakes she has baked to sell to the home cookery - her ONLY source of income. Or watched an aunt boiling flour sacks to bleach them to make clothes; until you know whereof you speak, do not patronise people who really know what "deprivation" is.

While I generally agree with the entirety of your post - one thing you do not make room for is the fact that times have moved on. So have morals (or lack there off) and so has the difference in material wealth between the poor and the rich.

However, as you probably would agree, there are no acceptable excuses for criminal behaviour.

No it is not conditional. If you want to be respected, you respect other people. If you behave like a spoiled child and throw a hussy fit everytime somebody show a lack of respect it will get worse and worse and worse and worse...

And this has nothing to do with turning the other cheek - that is indeed one of the least respectful responses. There's a, for some uncharted, middle ground between turning the other cheek and handing out beatdowns.

Also, a lot of people don't seem to understand the difference between respect and fear these days. Respect is about mutual coexistance - not about everybody else standing aside in awe as you come flying through on your ego-trip!

And I'm not directing this at you Devil - as I said before - I believe you took the correct approach to this situation. Too bad you chose to paint your post on here in less respectful colours (and just looking at the thread title should make that obvious).
