I ride my own ride. I don't do pillion unless absolutely necessary! We have 5 bikes between 4 of us... Heh!

ask the other half to hop on back and get the angry face .Best thing i ever done was to encourage missis to ride great way to spend the day togeather.
Hubby and I both ride our own bikes, we are in the process of renewing them, he wants an ST1300 and I have an ER6F with my name on it.... we are heading for Tauranga this xmas on a road trip and I am looking forward to a ride that's a little more sit up compared to the ZZR600... getting too hard on the wrists... We take our time and have a look around, no taking the shine off ma shoes on corners and I have got better things to do with my money than give it to the government...other than bloody petrol tax

Just got back into riding again after a long break and loving it..
Went to Kaikoura for lunch a few months ago... I smelt the honey suckle, fresh cut hay and the ocean on the way up... tickled my senses and had me buzzing all day... you can't get that in a car...

I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message.
At hubby's work there's been a sudden increase of partner's beeing gentlyencourged to get their licence's & own bike's through a variaty of means
& apparently I'm to blame, no fair. Up to 3 wives with another 2 been worked on at the mo
.
Apparently it wasn't untill I got my own bike that they thought about the poss of getting their wives onto their own bike's![]()
We both have a bike each but have very different tastes in bike style. He likes sports/touring and I like cruisers.
I dont pillion very often with him as I just dont like not being able to see the road and he has been known to complain that I lean too far over round corners. Wish I leaned that far on my own bike...bit too chicken yet... as still on my training wheels after a head on crash in the cage.
Anyways...we love riding together though and the kids all go pillion with Dad (except the baby whos too small to reach the pegs) and we get to hae a blast.
I wouldn’t be broke if the voices in my head paid rent
He's having a think...yes I see a flicker of interest....eyes are glazing over
... crap!! we were all sorted, now it's back to the drawing board... suspect he might have a look at the FJR before he decides...Has anyone ridden an automatic FJR? I know about them, as he's is back on the comp looking at demo movies...
Hitcher why do you prefer the FJR?
he rides a VFR800 VTEC at the moment...

Seeing how you asked, and in no order of priority:
1. Standard 17" rubber front and rear (the ST has oddball tyres at both ends)
2. Span-adjustable clutch lever
3. Fully-adjustable front suspension
4. 40kg lighter
5. R1-sourced brakes
6. No linked brakes
7. Panniers are easier to attach and remove
8. Bike looks great without the panniers on
9. One key can be used to have both panniers unlocked at the same time
10. Better pillion comfort (I have on good authority)
11. That wonderful Yamaha inline four, with stump-pulling power that goes on forever
I should note at this point that I have owned both an ST1300 (32,000km) and an FJR (73,000km so far).
What do I miss about the ST1300?
1. That 27 litre fuel tank
2. The air temperature thermometer
3. The built-in drop bars
4. The rear suspension pre-load adjuster
Both are great bikes.
I haven't ridden the automatic FJR. Those who have generally enjoy them once they've got used to not having a clutch lever. But the two manual versions (ABS and non-ABS) are pretty damned fine bikes.

I guess Im a bit of a lucky son of a gun . When I get to ride My lady is happy to hop on the back of my bike or ride her own.
Trail bike riding the whole family rides their own bikes. --Which usually means for me a lot of time spent kicking bikes into life.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
