Hokitika experts - Some help please

Can anyone tell me if the river crossing ringed in my MMap pic exists (e.g. has a bridge)? I'm looking at a bit of variation for a West Coast ride ... some maps show it, others don't.

Not been there but far as I can figure there is no bridge. There isn't one on the 260 series topomaps which tends to be pretty reliable. There isnt one on the auto routing GPS software not the topos for the GPS.

GE needs to get better res aerials in that area. Had a look for aerial photos on the West Coast Regional Council and Westland District Council sites with no luck (more and more councils are putting aerials online. Also district or city council plans are a good place to get an idea but no luck their either.

Try contacting the Westland District Council.

I don't think there is a bridge there and if it doesn't exist just pop down the road and cross on the SHW then back up to pick up where the plan would have taken you. It don't look like it'd be much of a detour to cross via State highway.

Thanks ... I guess I should just live with the 'adventure' and anticipation - it's supposed to be what I am about!! It'll piss off the Garmin tho.

Yes - been there, saw that - still - good for an argument. Frankly my dear, I couldn't give a dam.
