Late-model GSXR600 shock wanted

Hi,

The rear shock on my gsxr400 race bike is stuffed (ive had it described to me as a pogo stick, lol), and ive seen and been told that a late model gsxr600 shock will bolt straight in.

So if anyone has a standard shock (for example one they took off a race bike to put a nice one on) lying around that they want to sell then I could be quite interested. Any k seried shock will fit apparently so the newer the better.

i've got one from a gsxr1000k3/4 sitting here that some dude hasnt paid me for in ages, do you know measurements for mounts and shock length that you need? i'll check it out for you if you want and see if it will fit.

The internal valving and spring rate will be too firm for such a bike, shocks are not only about wiill they fit or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My point is if it does fit there will have to be budget to rework it so that it will actually work properly in an installation that imparts a totally different leverage and motion ratio to it.

But I had Mr Harris just service that shock before I sold it to you, it must be still okay surely ?

It dosent seem to have any compression damping. Robert Taylor had a look at it during a trackday at ruapuna at the end of last month. He had a bounce on the back and said it was well under damped and went to wind on some more damping but it was already on full.
I also had a good mate of mine who knows bit about riding (2nd in 125 nats) ride the bike last weekend and his 1st comment when he got off it was that the shock felt poked.

Im wondering if prehaps its just a bit old and tyred, especially now that you have mentioned its not long been serviced. But yea I dont know too much about them so any advice is greatly appreciated.

About $250 with typical parts replacement. Note that a service is a full stripdown, thorough inspection and reassembly by people actually trained and certified for the product. There seems to be a hell of a disparity in understanding of what a ( full and proper )service actually is. Further to that when we service we stand by our work and the shock is valved and sprung according to the application.

Just checked my reciept Skaz, Mr Harris actualy did only adjust the spring, I must have got confused with another bike........

If you can get hold of a 600 shock that would be awesome, so good luck hunting, I will keep an eye out.

We have a couple of used Ohlins shocks for 06 through 08 models, at good prices. Type 46PRXLS and 46PRXS. PM for further info. Pre-sprung and set up to suit in the appropriate length / stroke correlation.

Ive talked to a few people and I think I mite look at getting it serviced/rebuilt rather than a replacement at this stage. Ill keep you in mind if that falls through though mate.

yep, it felt like you had grabbed a kids pogo stick and cut it down to fit in the linkages to replace the shock!
