What a choice thread! better put my two cents worth in ...

I joined the army when i was 16.5 and spent 9 years there, trained as a radioman / tech. Spent a fair bit of time overseas, all the lovely places, cambodia, Soloman islands etc. Jumjped out of planes, rolled land rovers and also finely tuned my drinking skills.

Finished up there and went home to Gisborne and worked in the forestry, Gisborne gold brewery, roading contractors, truck driving. Also started and ran a radio station but mostly played guitar in punk rock bands and kept developing my drinking skills.

Went back to my trade (radio/electronics/antenna rigging) and after a couple of years or so got a scholarship to study in Wellington to complete my RF engineering quals at massey. Ended up staying here cause the girls are so good looking, awsome music scene and landed a challenging job at an NZ owned company engineering broadband radio links. Also work part time PA rigging for music concerts here in welly's.Try to keep the guitar skills up too ....

I think I started to become a 'practising alcoholic' (was still trying to get good at it ) , but woke up to a certain extent and have reeled it in a fair bit due to the arrival of our new son, Zac (3 weeks old now).

Also one of my other pastimes is exposing the corrupt bunch of theives that we call 'politicians'. Post regulary on a web site called 'mysterious new zealand'.

Always been into bikes, but have only just started seriously riding again in the past six months (after a break of 10 years) since meeting good people to ride with...

    Bikes owned: 1980 PE 175, 1982 XR200, 1985 XR250, 1986 XR600, 1987 YZ490, 1991 XR 600, Katana 750, Triumph bonneville 650, 1983 IT175,1996 XR400,1998 KTM 400, 2005 RMZ 450...

Christ there goes my lunch time... sweet ride yesterday Kez' nothing like wee bit of drama to keep us on our toes!, glad to hear our mates ok...

I suppose its a case of enjoy as much as we can.Trouble is - it's us that votes them in!! We need to find a really rugged island that has a supply of petrol and 2T oil but no govt lol!
    all true

I was looking forward to going to the taranaki kb meet and then trail riding on sunday.
But no shit happens and i couldn't do either.
it feels like all i do is bloody work.
I am ranting on a bit because i am pissed off with the weekend just been.
ok the money is good and i can buy alot of the things i like and shit like that , but whats the point if i dont get the time to ride.
My kids are getting right into it now so any time spare i spend watchin them ride.
dont get me wrong i really enjoy watching them .
and planning for time off aint so easy for me as alot of variables happen for my job.
But i think it is a 2 edged sword if i done a different job with f all hours i may not have the disposable cash to buy bikes and stuff .
ok thats my whinge over.excuse me as i am a rwal grumpy mutha f^%$k last few days.
you watch next week i'll think i have one of the best jobs going around.
shit just sucks sometimes aye? Mostly things are good tho gotta keep that positive kiwi "can do" attitude, that's what makes this place so cool. Imagine trying to find the riding opportunities we have in USA, UK or ever Australia (sandy, hot, fukken dust bowl) You gotta just do what has to be done in order to do the shit you want to do, it's not so bad

Yeah mate kept it interesting aye? note to all: don't go riding with learners on YZ250 weapons... they dislocate their arms and you end up dubbing them out and dubbing someone else in to get the yz250 weapon out! note to learners: don't buy 250 2t mx weapons. That thing was out of control

You do realise that some one who owns an ice cream factory has made it to the top and has god like status to a couple of twelve years olds...... Hehe...

Haven't seen you for a while, still getting out for a ride?

had a massive off and colided with a tree at woodhill a month or so ago. it's too easy to open her up out there these days! bike went one way (missing the tree) i went the other. so have been just taking it easy, riding an old matchless in a made up grass track at a mates farm... bloody fun, might have to get into classic racing!

(that and saving for a boat for the summer!)
