Filling bike tyres with nitrogen!

Quite happy with good old fashioned air thanks. Dont belive you dont need to warm up your tyres if filled with nitrogen, sounds bollocks to me.

i cant remember if it was nitrogen but my physics teacher used to do this a lil wile back coz nitrogen molecules are larger and thus leak slower meaning tyre pressure was maintained for longer periods of time......

for the gentleman suggestin helium, think it might be too small and would leak blardy quickly out the tyres.....but what do i know, i hafnt done a science subject since 7th form in 2004!!!

apparently some citizens find that replacing the air in their heads with nitrogen makes them 7% smarter ... which is massive ... for an air head

Aircraft tyres are filled with nitrogen to reduce corrosion and fire danger.Nitrogen being an inert gas.Oxygen the other component in air of course being great for combustion and corrosion.Nitrogen doesn't give the tyre magical properties of extra grip,etc. thinking it does is asking for trouble.

A full Nitro mix can reduce the variation of temp ranges in a hard worked tyre such as those on a sprint car that spend all there time spinningor airplane tyre where there is an extreme temp range.

But maybe I'm wrong and should fill my shocks air space with it then the might turn into some Olins road and track ... yes. Will go and fill the old 86's rear suspension with it to find out.

Incredible with the rear shock filled the bike now starts, handles and monos better than before.. no need to warm tyres or even use fuel. I can run it on waater now ... wowo. AND it converted the lead wheel weights to gold.

Yes it is 100% Nitro.
I am running my car tyres on it and the only 2 differences I can see so far are they hold the pressure, ie, hot and cold conditions and they dont leak, and they stick to the road more, ie hug corners ever so smoothly despite the speed. I have been told that the tyres will wear more evenly aswell.
I don't know about running it in motorbike tyres, but I do like it in my car tyres. Food for thought now though.

I have never had to pay for the gas. The only draw back is, thats its only available from tyre outlets. So if you need to top up on the gas, you need to go back to either the place you purchased your tyres or another franchise of the make of your tyres. Sundays and public holidays are obviously out.
I also have these wee fluro green caps on me valves to set me apart from the air users

The only reason I got Nitro was Firestone sold my last set of car tyres under false pretences, and I pulled them up about it when I realised they werent made in NZ. They replaced all my tyres ($800 worth), gave me a wheel alignment and this Nitro gas.

not to put down the experts, but i think you will find that tyre grip & wear is all down to what type of tyres you have (soft,hard compound etc) for grip & wear air presure makes a lot of differance too.

Personally I use Hydrogen. It gives far better wear on the outer surface and I managed to drop my lap times by 3 seconds! Nitrogen used to be my choice but I find that Hydrogen heats up better and gives my the expansion factor they require to have added traction.

We are using nitrogen, not air.

Hydrogen atoms just go straight through rubber, havnt managed to get to my destination and still have inflated tyres.

I found filling the front tyre with water slowed the steering, however the bike felt much more planted, i had to soften my suspension as the sidewall flex was reduced too.
