    Improving cager/biker relations...

Boys and girls, and those who aren't sure...

You'd be pleased with me, I turned the other cheek. Riding to Barrys Point Road (to test ride a new GSXR750), a numptie in a Pug 206GTi (well, he'd have to be gay driving one of those right???) looks at me coming down the road, and waits until the last possible second to do the inevitable and pulls out on me.

    I went past him, and...

    Did I curse him?

Did I kick his wing mirrors off??

Did I go to house, steal his beer and his dog, then burn said house down??

No. I didn't, instead I showed remarkable restraint and and being the cultured biker that I am, I didn't even shake a fist at him...

However, I did suffer a momentary lose of traction as he was sitting behind me to turn onto Barrys Point Road. Was the tire wear worth it? Silly question. He was most unamused as his car got peppered with stones and rubber and a cloud of smoke (the likes of which will seldom get seen again).

I love my GSXR. I'm such a boy...

It's not "remarkable restraint". It's normal behaviour in many civilised places with a formal roading system and a legislature.

Kiwis are angry wankers on the road.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Well done that man. We need to foster good relations with our 4 wheel cousins. Its not their fault they have too many wheels and not enough brain cells.

We need to recruit these poor misguided souls as everyone should experience the excitement, the freedom, the education and the really good bastards you encounter when you ride.

In both my car and on my bike I give it the shoulder shrug, two hands raised, palms up - the "....what were you thinking?..." gesture. Most ignore it, but I have had a few shamefaced waves.

I hope the dealer doesn't catch any shit for your actions.

You really need to treat test-rides with respect.

I have a little more common sense than that (although, barely). I was on the way to Holeshot, meaning I was riding humble scoot (which I own). It would be very bad kharma to return a borrowed ride with excessive tire wear...

You mean, sometime soon, people are going to let me into the flow of traffic (like I do), drive under 50kph down symonds street and Parnell road to ensure the safety of pedestrians (like I do), never ever drive with more than one beer in their bloodstream (like I do), and never ever even look in their motorcycles direction when I've had a beer in the previous 24 hours (like I do), and follow with a good distance (like I do), and maybe overtake in sensible places that actually have good visibility (like I do)...

Of course, some day I'll get to see common sense break out too, where we have a democratically elected bloke in parliament, and country music and rap are banned? Nah, it'll never happen.

I'm making an effort to be friendly to kids that wave / stare. Hoping to turn around the next generation. Attract more riders or at least they see us as friendly / considerate motorists.

The other alternative with a car like that Pug is test ride a dual. Ride over the bastard. If a convertible, take the "drivers side" line

Yes, they are. There are deux Peugeot in our gargre (one either side of the VFR), including a 205 GTi, which is the most evilly fun car I've driven, like a street-legal go-kart.

Not because it was a Peugeot, nor because you said Peugeot drivers are gay, but because it was a bit OTT. While I can sympathise with your annoyance, I doubt the driver's reaction was, "Oh dear; I was a naughty boy, I'm sorry I did that."
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
