A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Your dribble is not bad advice either.
be cool in this 'windy' thread!!

And also... wtach out for cars that tend to move with the wind... you'll notice a lot of cars drifting around lanes trying to compensate for the wind...

If you decide to do it anyway, keep yourself as square as possible against the wind, don't back off the throttle too harshly (actually keeping the revs up helps), and have a good night rest the day before.

it would be a tiring trip, but invaluable learning. Just my 0.002c worth.
Thanks, iv'e ridden in the wind a lot (i live on the west coast) and certainly not keen on hours and hours of it! (my only vehicle so I ride in all weather)

I have a strong feeling that i'll be riding shot-gun in my mates cage, , oh well better than 5+ hours of misery then work the next day!

Yeah nah...five hours of it sounds positively horrid. It's probably a more responsible choice tbh to go in a cage. What's the point of being "brave" if you end up in hospital or so exhausted you can't enjoy wherever you're going eh?

Having lived near PN for most of my teen years I can assure you it will be windy.
And because my first windy ride was when I had to ride to Pukekohe from Orewa on Sunday afternoon in that lovely windy gusty crap shit Auckland weather I think it only fair that you should as well. I really hate the motorway.
I definately needed a lie down when I got home.. My thighs are still a bit sore.
I wouldn’t be broke if the voices in my head paid rent

Rode home at around 5.15pm through Glenfield and I think I aqua-planed a puddle from the huge wind gusts on an exposed road.... Was riding straight at constant speed, then suddenly skidded sideways on both wheels for half a second...

Next time I see trees half bent over from the wind, I think I might pull over and wait for the wind to die down.
