Some elements of libertarianism sound good to me, but others just sound bonkers.

I like how it gives you more freedom in many areas but I don't like how it will affect those that are less fortunate.
It would give parents complete control over their kids, they don't have to make them go to school. I just don't think we can trust most people to do the right thing.

Any party with the Statue of Liberty on it loses my vote instantly.

This is new Zealand, not fucking America.

And America is hardly a country we want to aspire to be more like either.

Heh, and given to America by the French!

I wish more people were educated about the parties that are running for office. You really have to wonder how many people are voting for the big two because they can't be bothered researching alternatives or because of peer/family pressure.

I'd vote for any party that advocated a return to the fuedal ages.

Listening to The Bill and Ben Party, on Te Rock this morning...

Their slogan is "No Policies, No Promises, No Disappointments"!

As good as any other fringe party to waste your vote on... (oops: "Make your statement" on...)

Actually one of their policies is to rid NZ of physical coercion – that includes doing away with parental rights to physically correct your child, or to hit the man who pinched your girlfriends arse
    Isn’t that reducing personal rights?
I think they just want to be able to have sex with animals without being locked up for it.

    Cool But...

But when they made that promise they broke it by making a promise - then broke it again by promising it was their only promise??

Actually I think a wasted vote is when you vote for the larger parties - so many people vote for them your vote hardly means anything
Every vote for a minor party counts - even if it's to just throw the cat amongst the pigeons to liven up parliament

Well the Greens seem to be advocating a return to the Stone Age, so I guess we'd have to pass through Feudal on the way?

The vote only counts if that party reaches the 5% threshold (then it becomes important). Up to then it means nothing apart from a "protest vote".
