    Meh, SP1 or 999?

Why are you comparing a mid range sportsbike with a sport tourer? Might as well say
    "What's better - an 350Z or a Commodore stationwagon?"
Well the Commodore is better if you need a car to assist in your wardrobe moving business........

You won't know Ducati until you try the new ones. 848 or 1098, that's the real question

The VTR is hardly a sports tourer. Eats gas. Unforgiving bars and seat, horrid suspension and brakes...

The TL would leave a 748 in the dust, and be a much better tourer than the VTR.

    Lets stir the pot...

    As posted in another thread:

    20 years of WSBK Winners
Ducati have won 13 of the last 20 years
    Honda have won 6
    Suzuki & Kawasaki 1 a piece

The 748 is based on the same design they raced between 1994-2002.

I don't know anything about the VTR's record.

Beg to differ about the dust coment , Caterton Sprints my 748R has held it's own compared to the tl1000s's on the flying, think I've managed a few kmh's higher than the quickest S.

Standing start is quite a bit different, TL has the advantage until the aerodynamics come into play.

    Now , about touring on a 748R ......

The TL I test rode was the most horrid and uncomfortable bike I have riden... I gave it back after 15min test ride... I find the VTR alot more comfortable to tour on, as for gas... well it can be thirsty, but thats only when you open the throttle... but so can any other bike if you are screaming round in sports mode.... My vtr has good suspension and brakes...

Basically... thats just your opinion to your riding style and what you want, your body weight and arm length to the bars... just as I hated the TL due to the same reasons...
