Rvg 250

hey 1st post xD. I just moved back from australia. I rode a zxr 250 which was the fastest learner legal bike you were aloud in aus . I know its harsh :(. Since im in nz now i want a bike that i shoudnt need to upgrade from(flating, got no money). I was looking at a Rvg 250 and the Rvg sp. Just wondering if any1 on here is selling or knows of selling 1. My limit is around 3 grand.:pinch:

You mean an RGV250? You won't get an SP for under 5K and even struggle getting an older 1989 for under 3k. Personally I would suggest looking at an M model RGV or later for a more progressive power delivery and reliablity.... but you'll need to up yer budget a little.
Most of these bikes are getting pretty tired these days and it hard to find a good one. If you do get one get the powervalves serviced the day you buy it.

Don't buy one unless you know what you are getting yourself into.
There is plenty of info on here on just what I mean by that.

The learner laws are set to change here and make the 250 2stroke race reps - such as the RGV - illegal for learners.

Its not really a beginners bike anyway and you would learn more on a 250 4stroke or 150 2 stroke.

Prolly true, but really they aren't that bad. If youve been getting around on a ZXR250 in Australia you would prolly manage an RGV without too many issues. They are nice and light, great set of brakes and excellent suspension. The later model ones are much less aggressive when the power comes on so they would be a better choice....
Even then they have good mid range power (better than a 250 fourstroke) to get around on most of the time. When you are ready for it give it a nudge over 7,000rpm...just make sure you are not cranked over when you do, or it will bite.
They do have 'Special Needs' though and like to be maintained properly.

sorry to hijak but whats the deal withthe learner laws I thought they were suposed to change in august is this still happening????

you also need to think about how much gass an rgv250 will use

but cant beat the smoke cloud at the lights in the morning though

No Idea and dont care.
You have the interweb just search for it.

Gas consumtion depends on throttle usage....
