My pride and joy - with its new 'Rider' seat!

Well ..... I just got the new seat done - over Thursday & Friday this week. This is the third seat done for me by Mac and colleagues at McDonald Auto Trimmers, in Tauranga.

Not sure how many others on here have had a seat made for them by Mac, but I'm impressed with his work, and I think it really sets off the Hornet nicely.

It was good to meet up with MotoGirl (and a guy with an R1 with dodgy steering head bearings !! - sorry - I can't remember your handle). I hope things get sorted for you MG with your recent hassles. Keep a good eye on that Aprillia !!!

I really enjoyed my ride back home from Tauranga to Whangarei on Friday! The weather was really good apart from a brief heavy shower at Warworth. Dry roads and sunshine and the Hornet went well. What an awesome bike. Nice and light, easy to chuck around and loves the twisties .... and easily zips past any tin tops!

There are more pics of my bike and the seat on my profile. (Modified Hornet).

    Cheers,
    Grant.

Yeah it's as good to sit on as it looks! It's really good to customize your bike to how you like it too. It means that it doesn't look exactly like anyone else's Hornet 900. It would probably look real good on your bike too. Mac does them to suit each model of bike. He's probably done a seat for pretty much any bike out there. I can certainly recommend them!
    Cheers.

Yes, it's getting close to most bikes out there now! He's certainly done the common bikes (such as VTR and Bandits, etc).

Cajun and I are both due to change our covers again. Damn, means I need to get artistic again

Superb work. Looks better than the Corbin version for the Hornet.

Yes Mac did a very good job. I'm very pleased with it. I haven't seen a Corbin seat, but these are Kiwi made by a family business, and I would much rather support them anyway.
    Cheers.

Hi Dino, yes they are good. I don't know how many people on here have a Rider seat. It would be interesting to hear from others what they think.
    Cheers.

By all accounts, Corbin seats are shit, and overpriced at that. I've heard so many complaints about how the seat won't latch on the bike, squeaks, the seams fall apart, etc etc. I nearly bought one for the VFR on TardMe a few years ago, but I'm glad I didn't. By chance the guy who bought it went on one of the few KB rides I've been on, and I sat on it, and it felt terrible.
one of the few mods I have left to do on the VFR is get the seat done. Wonder if I can wangle one for my 100th birthday in December...
    Hmmmmm....
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Ive got one on the V-Strom and love it. The shape works perfectly, and the finish is top grade.

I would happily recommend them - and a ride to Tauranga is always a good day out!

You didn't have it down at Mac' last week did you ? I was in there Thursday/Friday 9th & 10th. I saw a Beemer in there that had just been finished. It had an emblem on the seat.
And yes .. he does a bloody good job of them!
    Cheers,
