    Kiwis=politically retarded?

what gives one party the right to impose its values on the population?
some of you know where i stand, but it seems to me most kiwi's vote based on:

    how their parents vote

    with their wallet

    by fear of change

    by how everyone else votes

by what they think should be forced on all of us.

for fucks sake, someone please think when your voting and see the big picture and open your mind a bit, no matter which way you vote, we do not need the govt on our backs to keep this country going!

It's not apathy it's just that I don't find any of the candidates credible and don't believe any of their policies have been properly thought through.

In short, the political smorgasbord I have been presented with doesn't have anything that I like.

'Most Kiwis' are mouth-breathing morons. This is reflected in all aspects of life, voting decisions being only one.

Unfortunately, that is true of every country everywhere.

Human nature can be a depressing thing to contemplate.

Surely, though, you cannot argue against the wisdom of ticking the leaf?

The vast majority simply don't care. They can't be bothered paying any more attention than maybe watching the news. And all you get on there is "Labour/National did something baaaaad. What's National/Labour's leader got to say on the matter?".

I agree, and think the majority of us are sheep, uneducated sheep. I don't recall being taught anything about politics or even how the government works, even fundamentally, had to go to University to learn these things.... at 30 for Christ's sake!
So I reckon a lot of people who don't know any better follow along and vote for who their parents vote for, or who yells the loudest or who can bull-shit the most and wouldn't have a clue what the real polices of each party are. There are also a lot of people who don't know who to vote for, or don't care so vote for who looks the most attractive,..... or just don't vote at all. Go figure.

Large swathes of my late adolescence/early adulthood are missing due to the dubious benefits of 'the leaf'. I suspect I may have enjoyed some of that time but alas I cannot remember any of it.

Must admit I'm hugely influenced by my Dad. He once worked for the Alliance and has some strong political views. Pretty much what I go on about really.

Course now I know far too much and it's all very depressing and suicide plagues my thoughts as I feel helpless in this shitty world full of idiots and run by an elite few for their gain. I need a fucking ZX10R.

Apathy and the feeling that wherever we cast our vote isn't likely to make much change happen is likely the main factor in our attitude (sweeping generalisation i know). Maybe we should opt for a dictatorship. Oh hang on we've pretty much got one of those already.
I just find it all so confusing, I really think I need to shut my eyes and block my ears and hope it all goes away. The reality is that no one party is going to provide us with what we want and they're too pigheaded to collaborate and pool the best ideas from all groups. We'll end up with one or two good policies and a heap load of shit ones, kinda like the packages you get from Sky (a whole array of rubbish channels which are tagged to the couple that you actually want).
