I would vote Motomart in Rutherford St, Petone.
PM Sparky Bills on here - he works there and handles the accessories as far as i know.
They are a top shop, great guys and have probably the best selection of gear in Wellytown.
Edit* Just realised at 2 posts you won't be able to PM him, but his name is Martin - go in and ask for him and tell him you heard about him/the shop on KB. I'm sure he'll look after you well.![]()

Whatever you do DON"T under any circumstances contact Quasimoto or Quasi on this site. DON'T get a fucking good deal on all the gear you'll need. DON"T get a tailor made suit of top quality for the same price as most people npay for an off the peg item.
Corse being a normal KBer youll ignore my advice and have happy days in ya new Quasi leathers.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
All of the bike shops in the Wellington Region stock a good variety of gear...
There is as far as I know three shops to choose from. There may be more, All with a good range of gear..
Wellington Motorcycles - City
MotoMart - Lower Hutt
Tss Motorcycles - Lower Hutt
There is also a local distributor for Quasimoto Gear - DEANO (on KB). He is in Lower Hutt. Quasi Gear is high quality and has a great range of one piece leathers..... www.quasimoto.co.nz
But do look at the top end stuff like Alpinestars/Dainese/Spidi and work your way down to something that fits your budget. Someone like Martin will be able to explain all the features and benefits of the better brands. There is a huge amount of nasty Pakistani & Chinese product floating around the NZ market and much of it is absolute shite. Not to say that there aren;t some good deals to be had, but you need to understand what makes the difference which is why it's good to go to a shop like Motomart that has a wide range to choose from.
Good gear will last you quite a few years if looked after properly and in most cases will offer improved crash protection, which after all is the main reason you are buying it.

Woop my bad - I'll edit the post. Thought he was in Upper.....![]()
Better than Spyke? maybe
Better than those others? What planet are you on?

Yeah don't search trademe either, coz you will snatch up all the good deals and we'll have to bid against you.

"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
"Wow, Great advise there DB."
WTB: Hyosung bikes or going or not.
The one where I've owned them all and had seams come apart, where there have been threads left hanging and unfinished in the lining, and where closure tabs and domes have fallen off. The worst one was an Alpinestars two piece race suit that ended up with me going to the DT to get the money back. I bought the suit to go with my brand new r6. The very first weekend ride I went on the zip for the jacket came apart and the zip holding the jacket to the trousers ripped out of the jacket. The distributor tried to claim I'd crashed while wearing them. No such luck chap.
What's with the cheap shot? Have YOU owned all of those brands? In terms of planets, on which one does Motomart give anything resembling service?
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
Actually yes. While I'm not rubbishing the Quasi stuff (in fact, for the price it's very good) it's not manufactured to the same level as Dainese and Alpinestars (admittedly some of Hein Gericke stuff is questionable particularly the newer stuff) and 'if' you had problems with those Italian brands surely they would have been covered by warranty?
Not saying they are perfect, like all this stuff it is mass produced so human error etc does come into play.
But having visited both Alpinestars and Dainese's production facilities and seen what goes into their products, there is absoloutely no way a product like Quasi's is comparable. Alpinestars in particular put a huge amount into the R&D side of things, they aren't just made to 'look nice' like so many products. In fact their company mantra is all about protection - that's why they are so highly regarded by professional riders worldwide.

Quite true, difference being quality control. It's a sad fact that most companies have to resort to getting product made offshore, look how much Japanese, Chinese & Taiwanese content there is in modern Harleys for instance - but again they have strict quality control and factory inspections etc to ensure they aren't producing crap like you see offered by some of those dodgy Chinese motorcycle sellers on TradeMe.
It may well be dangerous singling out retailers for special mention, especially in some cases. However, Motomart do seem to have the biggest range of gear I've seen in any shop in Wellington and I've always found them very good to deal with. It's just a recommendation, not an order to shop there.
Just like James Duece is obviously a fan of Quasimoto's gear. These are all just opinions and should be taken as such. After all the guy did ask where to buy gear FFS!
