    Wanted - bicycle

wanting to buy a bicycle in good, working condition. doesnt have to be flash, just enough to get me to and from work. the local conservation center has a rent a bike, but they are on a month long back log as far as getting the bikes road worthy.

basically, all im after is a sturdy frame, tyres that dont go down every 5 minutes and brakes. a normal bike like the school kids use would be good. looking to spend a max of $50, but less would be better.

would be willing to go as far as new plymouth and palmerston north/levin.

and before anyone asks about the virago, im not keen on leaving her on the street til 2am without anyone looking after her. i cant afford to replace her if she gets stolen or damaged.

thanks in advance! pm me if you have anything.

Shhhhh, speak quietly or the cycle snobs will be along soon to tell you that you actually want to spend a couple of weeks wages on a bike with bling this and suspension that and then they will argue over the benefits of various brands

been there, done that. thanks though! there was nothing listed locally, with 90% of what was listed being proper road racing bikes which i dont want. plus they are too freakin expensive. most of the bikes are auckland based. only need it to get to and from work, so not after anything spectacular.

    lol number one!

Fucking lycra wearing, leg shaving try hards. Why is it that so many of them feel the need to pour themselves into the 'race team' lycra suits - honestly some of them really shouldn't

THere is one guy that gets my total respect - he doesn't wear lycra and he flies down the Ngauranga Gorge, splits like a maniac and is clearly a fit as dude but faaarrrr out he isn't a snob at all. Wears a t'shit that says 'No LYCRA!' and I don't think he shaves his legs either

I bought a really great bike from the refuse transfer station in Hamilton 2 weeks ago, for getting around at work - $20. An ex-kmart one that looks like it was ridden once.

Well i've got one sitting in my garage i was gonna chuck on trademe at a buck reserve. Rear tyre goes down slowly (probly a slow leak in the tube), but other than that she's fine. Good old solid frame 'mountain bike' (i.e. mountain bike styled, but no suspension. great for riding round town etc)
Bit far away i know, but if you've got a way to get her home from aucks, you can have her (KB discount )

    Way hey hey, cheap bicycles!

And, oh my! Do I also sniff in this thread the tangy scent of quadricep envy?
