Yes. A Turkish lawyer said that if he was an Australian or American boy, he would be back by now.

I'll be a starter for that - though I think I'll pass on wearing a Helen shirt

Sadly, it sounds like he'd be better off paying someone to remove the mother - permanently

Ahhh, the up and down arrows vote for "cool" or "shit". I think you need to be a member to vote, but it almost certainly just creates you an account if you need on.

If you go to the homepage http://reddit.com/ then you get the stories that are currently voted highest with some kinda retiring over time algorithm that I don't really understand. Recently it's been infested with pro-Obama messages so, in all likelihood, the story in question has to compete with a paid lobbying firm to make it to the front page. But hey, it's worth a shot.

Seriously, Turkish airports are not to be fucked with.
The amount of security and armed guards in Turkey should not be taken lightly. Having traveled and spent time there.......
X-ray machines to get INTO the airport, even if you are just seeing somebody off!

Turkey has been dealing with terrorism for years and knows how to protect its borders...

Count me in for a protest ride.

Excellent that the Turkish media have picked up on the story!!!

    Midnight Express - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077928/

I used to work for a company that had a Turkish technical director. Useless fuck he was, but I digress - we used to tell him that we knew what Turkey was like because of Midnight Express. He hated it, said that Turkey was a modern country now so clearly we stopped. Heh. Right.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dXylT4F0SY - don't fuck with the Turkish police. They make ours look like donut munching speed cameras. Oh, hang on...

Your post made me think of the Turkish prison scene in Lawrence of Arabia.

This breaks my heart - poor guy as a parent I can only just begin to imagine how tough this is on him and I really hope something can be done SOON to reunite them again.

You're on the money. I've witnessed a video Skype session where little Dylan is reaching out for his father and doesn't understand why he can't hold him.

    Gut wrenching stuff.

I just feel sick thinking about it and the powerlessness he must be feeling...oh dear I've welled up.

If a protest ride to the embassy is on the cards in Wellington I'll be there for sure!!!
