It's just a recommendation, not an order to shop there.
I hope this thread's initiator gets good service if he decides to shop there.

I haven't tried, or even looked at Quasi gear, so I can't make a comparisson... but I can say that I'm a big fan of Alpinestars gear.
My first exposure to it was when Gassit Girl bought (after searching for literally years for a decent jacket) an Alpinestars Sigma ladies cut jacket.
It looks like it is tailor made for her. One thing about it pisses me off... it's fuggin waterproof, like REALLY waterproof. My Spidi R-Type series jacket (that incidently cost MORE than the Alpinestars jacket of GG's) bloody leaks, and GG takes great delight in pointing that out when she is dry, and my front is soaked.
I bought a set of Alpinestars track pants on the strength of the quality of GG's jacket, and recently got hold of an Alpinestars Vector jacket, that zips to the pants. I'm very pleased with the fit and quality of both the pieces, so much so that my next purchase will be an Alpinestars Sigma BLOKES jacket so that the toerag I'm married to can stop giving me crap about getting wet!
Personally, I'm eventually going to replace all my gear with Alpinestars stuff... not because of the name, but because I'm very happy with it

    thanks

I have bought gear from most the shops in Wellington and actually tried it on at all the shops ....

For leathers ... Motomart and TSS have very good ranges ... it is not about the best place but getting the right product and fit .. so go and try them on ...

Gloves .. any and all of the shops have a variety ... I bought my latest pair in Palmerston at Anza ... but I also have gloves from Trademe, TSS and Motorad.

Really the empharsis is on getting the right fit for you - and that is where you should be looking - and then getting the shop to close the deal.

The guys at Motormart were very helpful to us. We bought some gear through them, they took us to the warehouse to try a range of styles and sizes to fit. We bought a photocromatic visor "liner" but I was too scared of screwing up the fitting. We went back there and yup - no problems, they fitted it perfectly right on the spot for my partner's helmet (no charge).

So far my experience has been very good and I would recommend them.

    Cheers,
    David.

QUASiMOTO service and support is fantastic!!
He actually does give a shit that you are happy with the gear you get from him and is very approachable and friendly. This girl is very very impressed with the service from these guys AND you don't have to have spent your last years worth of wages with him to get this either

    Well done QUASiMOTO

Ooops...I can see I have waded into something.... I back away slowly....

Ok, I know this is but one example and is anecdotal, however I do feel it does serve to show that brand and price are not necessarily a fair indicator of quality.

A young KBer binned his 250 going around the OS of QKCHK through an intersection. Low sided at a low speed. The leather on both sleeves of his $3,000.00 imported Dianese leathers ripped open and peeled back.

His jacket was a size larger than my Quasi jacket and about half the weight.
How did they do this? Only one way I can figure out, thinner leather.

Despite my repeated attempts I haven't managed to destroy my Quasi leathers. I have had stitching replaced due to abrasion and some Velcro and zip work done, however I don't feel any of that is unreasonable given the abuse and the fact that I have done over 100,000km in them.

    This thread is getting silly.

If people have an issue with the quality of goods or services provided by any vendor, they should in the first instance take that matter up directly with the vendor. Malicious and spiteful slagging off and ambush tactics in public forums do neither party any credit.

Even the "best" of businesses are always capable of selling a lemon or doing something that pisses a customer off. The measure of their mettle is what they then do to put matters right. I come from the school of spending whatever it takes to remedy legitimate customer concerns. While that may sound like a recipe for disaster, if you sell good products, employ good people and have good management systems, the cost of that is potentially dwarfed by the cost of not doing it, particularly in reputation cost terms. Denial, excuse-making or blame shifting achieves little other than anger and resentment.

The originator of this thread started it with the best of intentions. However it is fast reaching a point where some form of intervention by the site's Moderators is largely inevitable.

I wear the Sliderz every day as motorcycle pants with armor on the inside and as normal jeans, around bikes, fixing bikes, in dirt, kneeling on concrete, scraping concrete on daily use, in and out of numerous washes and about 5,800km of road use. From inspection I can't see anything wrong with them, the pockets usually have some coinage, cellphone and wallet in them.. no wear and tear there either.

I'm not saying yours weren't faulty, but of the two other people I see on a very regular basis that also have the jeans, they've all held up just the same as mine.. so maybe it was just a spot of bad luck? I'm sure it could have been handled better (after hearing just one side of the story, that is..) but surely of the hundreds of customers who have tried and tested (properly) and are happy would suggest that maybe yours are faulty and perhaps not ALL of his gear is?

I'm not defending him, I'm merely stating that I have the exact same jeans and have been through harsher conditions, and are fine, that is all!

    3. The jeans shouldn't have been damaged so easily and a replacement will be provided.

None of this would put me off buying one of your jackets but definitely the jeans.. (Which you aren't selling anymore anyway?)
Cheers for that, I am in contact with Jafar about this situation which he feels he has an issue with, and Im sure a satisfactory outcome will be reached.

The Alpinestars Track pants and Vector jacket I bought over the last few months are bloody heavy! I'm gravitationally challenged at the best of times, but I reckon these things will add another 10 kilos to me. I've still got to "run them in". They didn't skimp on leather when they made the gear I've got

Boy you sure showed them a lesson! Did you show any interest in buying a bike? Please advise when you've found a clairvoyant retailer who understands that "gloves and pants" actually means "bike". Perhaps motorcycle shops should have IQ tests to stop them wasting their time with the mentally challenged...
