O.K. so I stuck the quote in this time. 309 is shut...

Get the sorry ol bones up to Pt Jackson Mark. The warm weather will do wonders for your 200yr old frame.

Unfortunately for Mark, gravel is no good for his trailer....

    Coromandel roads..

I had the afternoon yesterday meandering around the gravel on coromandel and thought you might all like a bit of a heads up....
Coromandel to Port Jackson, hard packed and fast with the usual pea gravel where you least need it, the pohutukawas are looking good too!
Coromandel to Port Charles, tight and steep with lovely patches of deep gravel where they have been filling holes and the odd bit of damp mud (not good for bald front tyres). Good sphincter clenching exercise.
Port Charles to Kennedy bay to Coromandel, some of it as above (it's one way in and back the same way out) but faster to Kennedy bay and hard packed generally but again with a bit of pea gravel that tends to keep the surface slippery.
Lots of traffic and half of them seemed a bit focused on something other than driving...there were the "look at that scenery" types, the "I'm in a hurry to get the kids ones" and the "we're driving our flock of sheep down the road" types. The award for best attempt to get me goes to the woman in the 4x4 who didn't give way at the one lane bridge.......I love Brembos.
    Back to the roads!
The 309 from Coromandel to Whitianga was closed to thru traffic about 10kms in from Coromandel so would be best to check it's open before heading down, road works or some such implausible excuse.
Coroglen to Tapu, hard packed and fast again with quite a mixture of surfaces when you least expect it.

    Bloody good roads!

Oooo, and my pack rack finally turns up soon!
But it's a week after the MotoTT round. Would have to get off my arse and get the slicks off the bike and put the chunky ones back on... hrm
Thats assuming I can get a second leave pass!

If we get enough signed up then it will be Kopu as I will have to take my ute up to Fletchers Bay with supplies. I will be going up on the Friday and riding down to Kopu Sat morn' Would say meet time will be 10-10:30 (option for some to camp Friday night if they wish) But ride really for Sat.

Nothing set yet. Any day trippers welcome but will ask that only those intending to overnight it sign up on the calender.

I plan to supply food & booze for those that want it but will sort that closer to time.

    Camping cost is $9pp

    Thank you
