skidMark's first time on a trail bike report.

I'm not going to bleat on for ages, but it sums up as.

    Holy Shiet.

    What a rush.

Saw i think 3 kbers there, one lead me through the new "blue" trail (was at the sandpit, aka woodhill)

oh yeah this is fun, getitng the arse out on the bike, letting the front buck around and tank slap all it wants, look where ya wanna go and hang on like all hell :P

went up some bigggg sandy hills, awww yer not too bad...downside okay tricky....

got to the next one, okay better at the downside, hang on tree root, hang on 2-3 foot dropoff, oh shiet!

well its too late now mark over ya go!

just dropped off and kept going, no major biggy, hell of a rush being airbourne though, more than the old bmx at the skatepark.

    Need me a dirtbike now!

Thanks to Badger8 aka my mate dylan for letting me have a play on the mighty kdx200 and for the kb guys showing me around and stopping to wait for me when i got a bit behind, only dropped it once on a tight right hander, bit too slow had the arse sideways and the front let go, only went down at walking pace luckily...

bucks around alot but im getting the hnag on it slowly but surely....

I will leave it there i have babbled for ages and i said i wouldn't lol.

    skidMark.

    Good stuff!
I reckon everyone should start out on dirtbikes. It's an excellent way to learn some skills while having heaps of fun. Although you can get hurt, it's generally less painful crashing than on the road.

My first bike was a road bike, but I went dirt riding on it all the time - got good at donuts and jumps and wheelies. I even tried riding it up Mt Tarawera one day (tyres weren't quite right for that...)
Bought a dirt bike when I wrote off the first bike.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Agree 1 hundy with you on that.

Shame Mark you didn't get into dirt bikes before the road bike thing. Would have caused far less Moto GP wannabe ridicule and you would have learnt a shit load about bike control. Next step - crusty demons no doubt

Exactly right and although some might not believe it, offroad riding can actually help with the onroad riding skills. I think I enjoyed blasting my 04 DRZ400E the most out of all the bikes that I owned and God knows there was many. I even managed to get over the custard colour, cant look at it when abusing the shyte out of it and too busy watching where ya going. Good wee write up Mark, I think if you got an enduro bike it could be the best thing you could do.

Yer man, she was an awesome day alright! i am so stoked with my new baby
I found all sorts of muscles i never knew i had, and now they hurt!
Took a little getting used to at first, but once i got used to her bucking around, the front going where it darn well pleases but eventually going where you ask it to, and the fact that is was just the front suspension rising when i gassed it (and not the bike trying to throw me and launch on one wheel) we were away!
Damn shame we had to head back so early, but the evils of work called. But hey, at least we got a morning of riding in first!

Hopefully meet some of you crazy dirt folks out on the trails sometimes soon keep your eyes out for a big fella on a blue KDX200 and a blue holden ute, hanging on for dear life down the medium level trails
