    Track Wanabie

I've competed in some offroad endurance events in the past but other than riding my Duc around in the weekends Ive never been on the track.

I wouldn't put my Duc on the track for a start I couldn't afford the repairs, they take for bloody ever you arrive from Italy and quite simply I like it just the way it is. I have thought about buying a cheapish 400 or 600 to get onto the track with, what I don't know is what class is a good place to start that is cheap and allows me to race a 400 or 600cc bike. I would love to do some sort of coaching day to if they were available. Any assistance would be great.

    Thanks.

    Hey Dude

I ve just started racing and had the same questions.
You will need to join a MNZ affiliated club before you can start racing so Victoria Motorcycle Club is the closest PM DukeGirl she will help you with this or just go to their website mate.
I own a 1098s which i dont track or race (same reson you dont want too) depending on what you wanna do maybe go for a 600cc bike.
You can start at "clubmans level" which is entry level on practically any type of bike and brake your racing cherry, after a couple of rounds you will sort of begin to get your head round how stuff works and meet people that can help you with advice etc.

Maybe do some track days first to get the feel of closed circuit riding, lookup "motott" on the net and enrol yourself to get up to taupo for the day or even Manfield.
Good luck and have fun, im also in Wellington so PM me if you hve anymore questions one racing noob to another

Have a look at doing a motoTT trackday, there is a CBR400 available for hire (and a SV650 if you talk nicely to Peter)

+1 for doing a MotoTT trackday. Best thing I've done on two wheels.
