    Slightly off topic, lads..........
Does anyone know where I could go in Nelson to get a bash-plate made for my steed?
Only done about 800km's, but already getting some bumps and scrapes on my crankcase cover. Mostly from those bitches of rocks on the Maunga!
    Cheers.

Just about any of the engineering shops will make you one at a price, would help if you make up a cardboard template tho.
Try Ballards Offroad website in Oz, look at Mostly Alloy Pages 35 on their catalogue, the've got one listed for KX250F, dunno if that'll fit yours - try emailing them. Price is $139 Aussie bucks. It may be cheaper/easier that bodging one up yourself....but then u don't have the satisfaction of the good ol' kiwi D.I.Y.

You going riding this weekend? I've got Sat/Sun morns free for a quick squirt on the DRZ if your'e keen to join.

Bennetts Plumbers - out the back in the sheet metal workshop.
Make one up out of cardboard so it can be taken apart for a pattern and you're away laughing.

Ok guys what went down over the weekend? Anyone go to the Street races?

I went to Blenheim on Sat via French Pass. What a very cool road - twisties galore. Poor Underground having to commute every day along there - gravel gravel gravel

Today I went from Blen to Picton via Rarangi & Port Underwood. Again one of the best roads I've ridden. Lots of gravel, twisties & views & nearly no traffic.

Back via the Maunga that has had a good sprinkle of fresh gravel on the road. I thought I had fnally got the old gravel riding sussed until I nearly lost it a couple of times - back to nana mode

All in all some really cool riding & feel ready for the work week - ooops nope going to a mexican restaurant tomm with the girls kindy oh well maybe Wednesday I'll get to work...

The coast was brilliant !After a shakey start aye Underground
Bit of rain on the way down but nothing to worry about,Maruia saddle was stunning as always, Greymouth was chocka, Racing was fast and furious, those motard guys are nuts, infact they all are, hats off to them.

Got sick of the racing so went looking for lake Hochstetter, took a wrong turn and rode down a dead end road, Reall nice piece of riding though.
Couldn't be arsed going back to Nelson crk to try and find our way to lake Hochstetter so went up to Big River instead.Took a wrong turn again and ended up on a rough goat track where we eventually got stopped by a large bog. Not a good place to be on a loaded Big with dusk only just around the corner.
Got robbed for accom. in Reefton, the place was booked out solid.
Then went for a gallop into Big River today

Stunning ride that. The mighty DR and little tenere thumping thier way through the westcoast bush, brilliant! (still fizzing @ the bung over that one)
Then home past a couple of accidents, poor biker on the Rahu(why don't road workers sweep up thier faarkin gravel or put out signs, wankers) hope the guys o.k.
Then past a nasty one just north of Murch, 3 cars, 1 crossed the centre line, nuff said.
Felt good to ride past about 1k of backed up traffic, then get escorted through the scene by a fireman while theyre still cutting people out of wrecks(got sworn at by some punters though)Hope those people are o.k. too.

BTW this is what I'm gunna do to the DR if I win lotto

Padmei, you gotta get some brownie points and we'll do big river, you can even bring your lions

I'll stick more photos in an album on my profile if anyones interested

That was a primo motorcycling weekend alright, the racing was superb ,the ride there and back was even better ,I just kept feeling sorry for those poor bastards on sports bikes I was with,I would arrive way later than them with a much bigger grin so I might have some gravel road converts on my hands.
Good you got the Dr sorted jatz's and managed a decent weekends ride

We finally got past the Murch accident at about 5:30 after 2 hours of waiting. Counted 160 cars coming toward us after the accident site and estimate the same number before it. 600 odd vehicles backed up.
The helicopter took at least 1 person away.

Coming down the Spooners and on the last corner before Belgrove there were a couple of fire engines and 2 ambos with a bike off the side - no skid marks but fresh patches of seal and dustings of grit on the road going down the hill.

Sounds like Greymouth was a winner. Graeme (on the Superduke) had a coming together with the 675... so he reckons he is going to stick to the 'Berg for a while. Another convert to the dirty side, I'll keep twisting his arm to get it rego'd.

Sadly I was home most of the weekend. The rescue chopper was very busy on Sun & Mon. Maybe 6 trips inbound on Mon alone.
    Cheers,
    Colin

That race got red flagged and restarted at least twice.
We didn't see Graeme coming around after the first restart and wondered what happened.
