1000k service

I'm surprised how high some of these figures are that people are quoting.

My 1k service on my CBR1000RR cost $89 which was just for parts...the labour charge was picked up by Honda. Maybe it's only Honda that take the labour hit on the first service?

my very first service was.... FREE
on my old CBF250.

and first service on my ninja way $80

i wouldnt be able to afford a $280 first service, ouch >_<

so went and picked up the bike today $250 all up for service.....
they expect it to cost the same at about 6000km time when i take her back in for the second service.

Ohhh how the industry rapes its own . Nothings changed.

Im a foreman for a Ford / Mazda service centre and we perform a FREE service check at 3000kms or 3 months . It takes about 40 -50 mins to carry this out using a hoist and a senior tech checking approx 150 items per vehicle.
As its a car we dont change the oil or filter. (most have a service interval of at least 10.000k. Some 20.000Kms)

Putting it into a perspective there is say 4 litres of oil in a bike a filter and an hour or so labour .
If it went over $200.00 id be asking for a complete breakdown explanation as to what was done.

Can't help agreeing (except for the rape word).

My GN250 with it's single cylinder and 1 spark plug, and 1.3 litres of oil, cost a hundred bucks more per service than my 3l diesel van.

Not impressed, especially when they charged so much for lightbulbs and stuff that blew after a month.

if my first service was anything to go by...they will firstly rape you violently, with out kissing you first.

Then they will demand that you supply them with your first born child.


and then they will cahrge you an arm and a leg


and the you might get your bike back

andd all the bol;ts might be tightened up.

I've just bought, my first bike, and looking for a place to take it in for a full service in Auckland. Any one real happy with their Mechanic? the bike is a GT250 Comet. It's second hand and 2006 model 19k any ideas how much this might cost me.

My mates 1000km hornet 900 cost $67 from WWH...goodness the amount of money workshop charge for pretty much just an oil and filter change. The rest are just adjustments...

I picked up my new Suzuki VL800 C50T last Wednesday and was told that the 1000K service would be around the $300 mark. This was at Colemans in Auckland. I was abit suprised as being under warranty it seems abit steep.

They quoted me a similar price to do the 1000k service on my vl250 also so I got a 2nd quote from Mr Motorcyles in Pukekohe, and it was $180

they tightened every thing up again as well now that the bits have seated in.

Yep as Imbray said. Tighten things up again. I did notice that there is a bit of a common issue with the vl250 clutch being a bit jerky. Mine was a bit jerky also when I first got it and again after the service but a week or two later it was smooth as again. Maybe just me but I have spoken to a couple of other vl250 owners who had noted it also.

Probably pay for what you get. I will always go to the dealer now after having some bad experiences with the AA on my car.

It actually turned out to be much cheaper going the the $110/hr dealer, as they took a fraction of the time to get the job done....and they knew exactly what they were doing...
