About drowning it grab an old vacuum cleaner hose and extend the air intake up to the steering head should help stop the water getting in.

one turns to the other and say says

"Patience my arse - I'm gonna kill something"

Good idea about the vacum cleaner hose GSers - is this a TouraTech accessory like your briscoes top box suitcase Gerard

Comment - I can afford to be cheeky about the barvarian lump since I ride one as well - though not with quite the skill of BusaJim and GSer both of whom did all of the challenge sections of the CCA earlier this year

Talking event posted in calendar as 29/11 - also accom at Jerusalem available

hi - I've posted this event in the calendar - as a newbie at this I'm unsure whether it's set up right to enable people to register their intent of being part of this adventure which I envisage going ahead baring cyclones.

In the event of bad weahther there's plenty of gravel to explore in the area.

Re Jerusalem on the river road - there's currently room for 17 - first in first served those of you who confirm your interest - either by registering or sending me a PM - cheers Aslan

Red face possible variation of plan - egg on face

thanks Zapf - for drawing this to my attention. All, I commit to check this out with DOC - irrespective personally I'm still committed to Central Plateau - Fisher's if doable on the day and surrounding gravel roads by mutual agreement.

I will most likely still be coming up via the Whanganui River Road stopping at Jerusalem on the Friday night

    Later ..... cheers S

This applies to 4x4's and is the standard annual restrictions, I'd hate to meet a bloody 4x4 in there anyway, meeting a quad causes diversions into the bushes.

Watch the river flows as they rise quickly with rain and check with DOC at national park about conditions, they are helpful but a bit vaque...

Do not do as I did, get knobblies as it can be muddy this time of year.

I doubt I can come and join you but I'm keeping it in the back of my mind in case i feel an urge for a long days riding.

Thanks Iain - I checked with DOC this morning and as you say the restriction does not apply to bikes - so in that sense 'wer'e good to go!'

Would be good if you do manage to make it. I've yet to purchase and fit some 50/50 oriented tyres.

    Ciao - S

    Great Brian!

Folks watching can you confirm your intentions please in the calendar entry for this event and I'll 1. Confirm numbers of us planning to stay at the old Convent at Jerusalem on the Friday night (sleeping bags required and koha + breakfast unless you're happy waiting until Raetehi). Prolly have a meal in Wanganui around 5.30 - 6pm before heading up the River Road.

    2. Book us in to the Owhango or National Park Hotels.

    cheers Aslan
