SpankMe you are very lucky, I've got a mate of a mate in South Africa who had a bird hit his helmet while they were winding it down to Durban, he was doing roughly 200 kph and the bird hit him so hard that they had to cut the helmt off his head and rebuild his face using some weird mesh and loads of plastic surgery.

In fact, I rather suspect that it is no more. It has ceased to be. It has expired, and gone to meet its maker. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. It's metabolic processes are now history. It's off the twig. It's kicked the bucket, it's shuffled off this mortal coil, it's run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible.
It is, in fact, an ex-sparrow.
I wondered how long it would be before someone did the parrot sketch.... trust it to be you, Mr Random

Just lucky it wasn't an African swallow.

    Carrying a couple of coconuts...

Even if it was something small weighing say 50g, when you calculate the energy dissipated when it hit, that's a fair force to bear the brunt of...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Only on the 'Live at Drury Lane' CD, though. I'm positive that that line wasn't in the original Flying Circus episode.

I wonder if it was one of these?

BIRDS: The Miranda Coast is the most important wintering ground for Wrybill Plover Anarhynchus frontalis. This endemic is unique among birds in having a bill curved to the side. The estimated total species population is only 5300, up to 40% of which flock to Miranda at the end of the breeding season.
    Population 5299 and counting!?

Never! Always invisible, sometimes pronounced "invisibule".

    Well done SpankMe
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

You are of course 100% correct. In those days on TV even the word 'bugger' was severely frowned upon by those dedicated to our moral wellbeing.

I'd bad enough with bugs and stones hitting you body, let alone small furry animals!
A Sparrow hitting your shoulder at 180k feels like a good solid punch.
I wonder what a bumble bee feels like with an open face? They sure make a hell of a CRACK when they hit the visor...
