Fark ! are they trained to look up as well ? Think this was an unavoidable one. Just hit the spot like the dude that spins that wheel at intersections. Is he going to be prosecuted ? My thinking a victimless accident. But nowdays cos of the cost to the infrastructure. Ambo, hosp ,emergency control and support at the scene. A cause has to be found, so someone can be accountable for the cost, the computer then can generate the account.

I bet you the authorities are looking at who is accountable for the costs in this situation.

Not at all.... all police expect to cop a bit of flack when crazy incidents like this occur. It's all part of being able to have a laugh at the crazy stuff that happens in the job. His mates will no doubt give him STICK.

As well they should. The roading authority responsible for the particular road should have been onto assessing likely dangers posed by trees etc and dealt with them.
Same crap happened to a rider on the Napier/Taupo rd a few years back. He spent some 3 years in a vegetative state until he died recently. Transit had been told about the problem tree and ignored the advice to remove it. I do not know whether they ever faced the music over that. But they should have.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
