I freind was telling me he used to race them, they went hard while they were going but it was always shitting gear boxes etc. Id prefer my jap honda anyday. But does depend who is riding and maintaining the bikes. I know 4 mates with CRF250 all 06 and newer that have lunched crankbearings. 3 where oil related the other got over heated doing a burnout and he just kept going. One of the ones that lunched its self lasted over 30min with no oil and all.
So did I. I guess we're coming in at the 11th hour on something here though. Maybe he has sown up an exclusive distribution deal of some sort?
A friend once had trouble trying to resell a parallel import pushbike tyre (Vittoria) on Trademe. All sorts of legal threats were made by the distributor and Trademe pulled the auction!
I think I'll stick to looking for a KTM 300EXC.
I dont know if its illegal or not. Thats just standard business practice. Basically they can say what they like to scare the general public into believing their bullshit story, and that is not against the law to do this. I think its disgusting behaviour - theres no need to stoop to it just to push someone else out of business.

"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
"Wow, Great advise there DB."
WTB: Hyosung bikes or going or not.
Can't have, if parallel importing of motor vehicles is permitted. Well, I guess he can, but he can't take legal action against a parallel importer who doesn't adhere to that exclusive deal which has no backing in law. One of the justifications for parallel importing is stopping manufacturers from predatory pricing through monopoly distribution.
Note, I am not offering an opinion on the validity of parallel importing. I'm just trying to clarify if it is permitted for motor vehicles, which would mean that this "official" TM importer would know, and hence is bald-faced lying.
[edit]
Ok, maybe I am being too harsh. They could be quite correct in stating that they are the only source... at this point in time, if there is no known parallel importer. However the statement from TM in Italy implies that there won't be anyone else.
Parallel importing doesn't exempt you from the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act etc; warranties are not the exclusive domain of official distributors.
