i shudder when i ring the parts department and one of the girls answer, 9 times out of 10 they get what i want wrong, especialy frustrating when the part has to come from japan, i think it took 4 months to get a shorty muffler from america, all because she forgot to order it 3 times, in the end i had to get on to john bout it.

To clarify the parallel importing and the legality of our statement.

We are correct in saying that the parallel imports have been stopped.
What has been stopped is their ability to purchase new bikes and spares not their legal right to parallel import.

There is several reasons why this has been done, firstly we are the Official Distributor and as such have considerable amount of responsibilities that go with this along with a serious financial investment. Apart from all the obvious reasons, there is one major point that most won't think about, Public liability.
This costs a great deal of money and is required by NZ Transit Agency (old LTSA) along with other requirements one of which is PDI's being done on new machines, which today we are informed that the parallel importer has forged the signature of the compliance officer for this requirement to achieve registration of bikes. He is going to be nailed to the wall for this! (and not by us)
There is all the other standard stuff that as the Distributor we are entitled too but most is boring and some posters here will still go "but we can buy cheaper blah blah blah" I don't agree with these arguments, end of story.

One of the other issues we have noted in the last few months has been what can only be described as "idiot" workmanship on these TM's mainly performed by a now liquidated workshop, this included "honing" of a chrome bore, water pump seal replaced backwards, kart pistons fitted to MX bikes and a whole heap more idiotic stuff.
Many of these owners started blaming the bike, which is simply not correct. The TM is, in my opinion more reliable and certainly a hell of lot faster than anything that comes out of Japan.

Regarding Jen and the guys at Supacross Cycles, I haven't met Jen yet but to say she is good at her job would be an understatement! (delt with her on the phone/email) Brent the newish mechanic is certainly a 1000 times better than the old mechanic who has now gone to another shop and Leigh the "new" mechanic I also haven't met but he is ex Gliddons and I am told exceptionally good like Brent as well. Michael does some pretty sharp deals on just about anything not nailed down so I would be suprised if one couldn't get a better deal off him on most everything. I know this because as a supplier to them we get dealer complaints constantly about deals!

Sounds to me like the "Importer" diden't supply clear instructions on how to work on the bikes.

Thanks for the clarification. The wording on your web site certainly rang alarm bells for me - about your behaviour, not theirs.

Never heard a bad word said about TM machines. The worst I've read (in an overseas magazine doing a multi-bike shoot-out) was that they might be too performance-oriented for a novice.
    Cheers,
    Colin
