An Old Bangers or Classic/Vintage section on the forum would be great.

And yes, that was the CJMG over at Akaroa. Check this website for details of the Classic Japanese Motorcycle Show to be held in Christchurch on April the 5th.

    Classic Bike Forum

hmmm 91 posts, seems to be a bit of interest in 'the old ones'
Mental Trousers has to convince ' the board' and advised me to 'get more support'.

I read here recently that some dealers won't service bikes over 10 years old!!!!
So seems if you want to run really ancient 1998 or earlier bikes you need to sharpen up on those tools.

If we old bike owners are granted an area to play in.....how about a with it now name like.....

    OLD SKOOL

no pigeon holing with makes, years, origins, capacity, etc....

im not surprised about that. an ex has two old harleys. the nearest dealer is an hour away and they flat refuse to go near anything made before 1990 [ie, shovelhead and older and it doesnt exist to them]

If the thing makes it to 25 + years it's a classic. No matter how diabolical, ugly, slow, ill-handling/stopping, country of origin whatever. Then no-one gets left out.

yep, very keen on classic section. Have a shed full of 'interesting' (ie broken) bikes waiting to be taken on the road again (old brits one euro and early jappers)...
Mind you, I do enjoy the 'get on and go' aspect of the new Triumph I sneaked past the wife...

Ah well, that's all right then.

So is it intended that this forum will be for talking about bikes > 25 years old?

It's just what is 'generally' perceived as 'classic' is 25yrs, not to be confusd with 'instant classic'- especially when used by manufacturers

You wait and see-> in ten years they will be doing a Scorpie rebuild step by step in Classic Motorcycle Mechanics.

Sorry, silly question. It seems from what people have said that the forum will be for classics according to the official definition, i.e. > 25 years old. That's fine by me, though I generally prefer to be pretty relaxed about rules like this.

Classic Scorpios, eh? I have a confession to make. My favourite bike of all time is the 1972 Honda CB175. ... Oh, never mind, I knew nobody would understand.

Thats because if you mention OHC, electronic ignition, and reliability Guzzi owners won't know what you are talking about.....
