Why has the gap increased so much between 91 and the other petrol?
1.43 ish for 91
1.57 Ultimate
1.99 Gulls version of Ultimate.

Saw prices for Shell today,
91 is 143.9
95 is 148.9
1.99 is a rip off...
Are you shopping for gas in Paratai Drive?![]()

I've got miserly tourettes and I don't give a fuck.
I loves what Google can tell me...
At the 2007 Westpac Ride:
Donor: So ya glad you're a Biker?
Minnie: F**k yeah!
Because BP Ultimate is 98 octane and have always been 14 cents more than 91 octane. 95 octane tends to be 5 cent more than 91. I think Mobil synergy 8000 (98) Is 11 cents more than 91 octane. I use BP Ultimate because my bike runs sluggish on other fuel and it only cost $2 more everytime I fill up.
I think the Gull price you put is not right I think it is $1.50+ when I saw it in the weekend and that has that 10% ethanol blend in it.
Don't just live to ride but ride to live.
Simple, don't buy 98. It's a rip anyway. I get better economy out of 95 especially Shell since v-power arrived. I used to prefer Gull till they added warranty voiding ethanol because it was always 1-2c cheaper.
Anti-knock systems on modern bikes will retard the timing so will give you worse economy if you're running too low octane so it's pretty easy to check.
In other words for most engines 98 is a crock of shite. Unless it's giving you better economy (therefore power per litre) it's a waste.
Of course if you don't have knock sensors you should probably play it safe.
Was in Tairua over the weekend, so yes inflated but it was a large % more than the 91.
Yes I agree with the above.
I am not a criminal, so Mobil does not get my service, and BP is the only other Petrol station that works on my commute.

On the 98 thing, above is two consecutive fills that showed both my best litres per 100 and my worst? (in bold)
Ditto - sick of prepay. My local Shell doesn't bother so they get as much of my business as possible.
I could bear filling up at the Mobil next to work when they had EFTPOS at the pump but since the wankers turned it off I haven't filled a car or bike at a Mobil. Don't plan to any time soon either.
Shell and Gull always lead price drops so they get my $$ if at all possible. Can't use Gull because of the ethanol tho.
Tairua has gas again? Didn't know that
Double check yourself, we used to have BP fuel cards, after they pissed us around, we swore not to use them again if possible. Most of my fills since have been Shell, until I caught them being consistently 1c more expensive than the Caltex less than 1km away.
Another Shell near home has forecourt attendants, and I will fill there even if they are 1c more expensive... I like supporting the old fashioned service, even if I don't use it.

Bummer about the prepay not being available at Mobil anymore. I always used them on the bike. Now I don't bother looking for them. I was shocked at the price of BP ultimate last time I called in there, so on my last trip I was at another one, it might have been Mobil again actually, and the pump said: warning: this fuel contains ethanol ( i think) ask attendant if you are not sure your vehicle can handle it. Of course the elderly Maori lady on the counter had as much idea as I did, so I filled up with 91.

Back on a 250 and riding more than ever.
I use my local Mobil cause it's just round the corner from home.
They're always 1c cheaper than every other Mobil (and most other stations) for some reason.
As for the prepay...I just wave my arm (or go in and ask if they're busy) and they unlock the pump for me...
And I don't think it's cause they recognise me...cause I seem to always see different staff
