Places to eat on the road

Was sitting at a takeaway bar owned by some friends this weekend and thought about all the places I'd stopped at along the road. I can't eat at Maccas (food's krap and the packaging is more nutricious) so I like to stop and indulge my passion for Cheeseburgers from burger bars in small towns.
Thought I'd mention my mates shop in Hampden and see where else you like to stop.

Yep, the new owners have been in there for about eight months now and Lockie prides himself on his fish

Personnel access covers are my favourite places to eat on the road.

In Whakatane theres a fish and chip shop right on the rivers edge. Theres a public carpark out front, BUT you can park around the back right on the waters edge, and there are table and chairs set out there usually.

    http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=-...03455&t=h&z=18

It's the middle light-blue roof building in the picture below. Ride through the carpark and note where the front entrance is, then scoot around the building on its southern end (past the restaurant) and down a bit to the tables and chairs outside the fish and chip shop. Its a great place to park up for lunch and the food isnt too horrible either. You wont fit more than six or eight bikes in there though.

Good food, good beer, and plenty of locals and visiting bikes for entertainment while you're consuming them

But if you've done the Forgotten Highway ride you already know that.

And the Sugar Juice Cafe in Opunake is a top stop with great food and coffee during a round Mt. Egmont ride.
