I'll try and keep it under control.

    Simply put:
    * If your not confident enough to ride fast don't.
    * If your confident enough to ride fast go for it (i know i will when i get my bigger faster bike).

and may i point out point out that all the learners are already speeding and breaking the law if they go over 70KM's in a 100km area (so says the road code that the cops enforce)...

See you all on Wednesday for "The FUN Wednesday Night Ride" (TFWNR)...

Unfortunately this is the kind of mentality that has started this thread war. A learner who is not confident does not want some speed freak who can't control their right wrist suddenly appearing at their side as they go into a corner. The common theme being discussed here is - 'this is a cruisy ride suitable for beginners'. It is not meant to be a race track. Respect for the purpose/meaning of the ride is all that is being asked for. Otherwise we are eventually going see carnage.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

There should be some extra smoke, in the carpark tommorow night.
I swear no one likes to follow me after about 10 minutes.

Too all those who think Group ride's are dangerous. Fair point, there's no true benefit for you being in this thread.
You have already made up your minds and will probably suggest imposing strict and uneconomical (time wise) rules.

For all those who like group rides and are ruling to respect everyone's space. Well done. See you on Wednesday (I almost typed Thursday).

See now that's what I'm talking about. Vast swathes of uncharted assumptions. From motorcyclists can do no wrong, to anyone who suggests a measured approach to introducing newbies to group riding being a boring moron with no blood or passion left in his veins.

The guy who died a couple of years ago and created this ride for that purpose made sure that the ride was both unthreatening and fun, for those aspiring to riding quickly and safely, to those wanting a quiet bimble. With the emphasis on the the bimble end of the equation. He was such a good guy that he didn't care whether or not he had a good ride, just that people got their heads around the basics of bikes and riding, and the basics of riding with other people. Which is a skill in itself, especially when riding with people you don't know. Bruce's death reminded some of us that we're not immortal, and there's always more to learn.

The brilliant thing about forums is you don't need to stand around in a carpark listening to a fuckwit like me droning on and on. You can organise it all on here, like Hels has done in another thread and then just get on with it.

I've special qualifications in being hard on myself. I probably shouldn't hold others to the standards I fail to meet myself.

Good idea Hels. We were thinking of heading that way anyway as the Tin Hut had let us down food wise last week. I am happy to lead a quiet tootle over the Paekak Hill for the cruisey group - same format as last week (?)

Or you could (get over yourself and) come along for the ride. You could go TEC, that way you wont have to worry about anyone riding behind you......
Experience......something you get just after you needed it

Sweet, cheers Malcolm and I will go TEC. You OK to let Gordy know that there'll be a few turning up? Was thinking that maybe if the weather was crap we could still meet up and have a drink for B anyway.....

That's not what i meant. Is anyone willing to stand up and help newbies out?. Ill put my hand up for that. Even though i am quite inexpirenced.
If we want to cater for newbies, we need people willing to help.
So far i haven't really seen anyone step out recently, probabaly why the Wednesday night rides are turning into just a ride.

P.s Won't be there tommorow, i forgot i have my Defense Driving Course.
