Back protectors?

I just bought a Knox Contour Race off Quasi. It's streets ahead of any back protector I've ever tried on. Goes right down over the coccyx, hugs the whole back firmly but without pressing uncomfortably anywhere, and is as light as a feather. Beautiful.

And then there's that CE Level 2 certification.

$370, but worth every penny if you can afford it, IMHO.

I'm sorely tempted by the Knox gear, would love to see it in the flesh if anyone in chch has a chest or back protector. The wife will expect little ones in due course (sooner rather than later), it seems appropriate that, should we go down t that row, that I'm around to care for them, even in the event of the unthinkable. Cheap insurance, and probably worth more than those homos at State give me.

BTW Spine T11-L2 is ejaculation and S2-S4 is Sexual function, I know KNOX have it on the protection guides, so tell that to the wife and tell her you both need a KNOX protector! lol

I picked up a Knox protector from Quasi today, then rode home the real long way to try it out. Far superior to my previous one. Highly recommended. Bret was a bloody good bloke to deal with as well.

I only wish I could find the article they did a while back where they did impact tests on some of the major back protectors V's a cheese sandwich. Let's just say the back protectors didn't out perform the tasty snack.

Well .. I'll tell you what .... all racers use them, obviously for a very good reason!
You wear your "tasty snack/cheese sandwich" in the back of your jacket, and I'll just struggle on by with my CE level 2 certified Knox Aegis back protector.
I still fancy my chances of being better protected in a crash, than you ....

I wear a back protector pretty much all the time (basically any ride longer than 10 mins). I am still trying to decide wheter to special order an aegis in small.

Is that Edam .... or Mild ?? Surely the fat content must make a difference in CE level ??!!

I don't know what you use, but I find the Aegis really comfortable to wear ... as in it's not really noticeable. I think it's worth the piece of mind factor !

Yes they go under your jacket.

As for importance and difference of CE... Would you wear motorcycle helmet that hadn't passed any tests (DOT/Snell/etc)? CE rating proves it works and to what level. Level 2 is the highest.
