Hyosong GT650R

Hey, feel sorry for me then.
I'd ride the GT anyday. It fits my frame way better than the RS, and is a much better every day bike.
Not denying that the RS is a good, (not a great) bike. But going by the increasing numbers of riders on Hyosungs, then owning a sensible 650 road bike is more common than owning a narrow focused RS.
Both good bikes, but the Hyosung wins in my view.

Why is it people complain about the build quality when write ups from around the world praise it.
Why dont they complain about the build quality of Suzuki, as they have had a build partnership with Hyosung for the last 29 years (why do you think the engines are so similar)
I can remember when Jap bikes first came on the market and the ridicule they got then (and the price those early bikes now fetch) - look where they are now, the same for Korean car makers, which in a very short time now get world acclaim.
But what really irratates me is young guys on learner 250's critisising a bike they are not legal to ride (as no bike shop will let you test ride a 650 on a learner licence), and comments of engines blowing up(most seem to be small CC bikes) - could it be the way they are treated (ridden and maintained).
Seems to me that this type of negative comment comes from people who have nothing more than a couple of years riding experience, and even less of building or maintaining a bike, and try and tell experienced bikers what is a good bike, do not compare a 250 with a 650+ of any make of bike, Try doing a South Island tour of 3000k+ on any 250 especially a 2stroke race rep.
On a final note, if some bikes are so bad, and some are so wonderfull, WHY aren't we all riding the same bike.

Where do I even come close to saying that I was comparing my racebike (yes if you read it properly you'd see it says racebike - its not even road legal) to a 650 or any other bike for that matter - hyosung or not... let a lone do a 3000k+ tour of the south island?

Jesus.. I'm comparing the Hyosung I owned to various other similar bikes (capacity etc) and taking comments from well respected people in the biking community (including various mechanics).

Sure, you may have one or two good ones... but whats that one out of the so many that fail.

you come very close with the statement of "I feel deeply sorry for you if you'd take a Hyosung over an Aprilia".
After 40 years involvement with motorbikes both here and internationally, both road and competition, all makes of bike get some slagging them off from some people who have had problems (even the Aprillia gets a bit of a canning in these posts), my own bike of choice is known to have suspect gearbox's, but that never put me off, other Jap bikes that run camshafts in the heads with no journals that fail relentlesly, chrome and paint that literally peels off (even now that happens with bikes)
Some of the Hyosungs I see in town are a bit worse for wear after two years, but on seeing these bikes daily they never seem to get a wash never mind routine maintainance or even servicing, and these all seem to be 250's with rusty chains, snapped levers, scraped bodywork,etc, all signs of poor riding and neglect.
And no, not having a bad day, I usually only post on here where I can help someone, but it irks me when some one slags off some ones pride and joy when their experience may not have even been on the same bike, or even the fault of the machine.

Ive got a Third hand 2006 GT 250 the naked version all stock parts. Apart from the chain has been replaced. Runs like a beauty wouldn't want anything else ....right now. Only advice to you would be change the tires from stock when you get it. Stock are what i run on and are basicly slicks. Not much grip.

I have no idea how many GT650R owners there are on this forum, but there aren't many who post their thoughts on it. Would that be because they're sick of the same old people who jump on the Hyo-Bash-bandwagon every time there is a thread about it? To be honest, I didn't really want to post for that reason, but I also didn't want Cliffrazor to miss out on possibly a great ride. Hopefully he'll see through the BS and decide for himself by riding it.

Yes it was fun for a while, but these days I am quite tired, and I have many more fun things to do that I would rather expend my energy. Abusers can go to hell in a fucken handcart for all I give a fuck. It's not going to be my heart attack.
