Invisible armour. Where do I get me some?

OK this has come up a few times in recent threads but I am gonna have my bitch...

I have just been out to get some lunch, walking along Customs Street West in the warm drizzle thinking 'what poo conditions to be riding in' and then I see a sight that left me momentarily lost for words folowed by incredulity followed by a bit of anger.

THIS CHICK...putting on her stupid little half helmet about to get on her scooter and join the masses on those greasy roads.
The rest of her attire consisted of a sleeveless knee length dress and sandles.

But it was OK FOLKS ....because she obviously was wearing that amazing invisible body armour AND the piece de resistance???

OMG! She was also wearing one of those hi-vis vests with "look for bikes'' on the back. Good on ya. Thats gonna save that sun-bed tanned skin when you arse off on a patch of oil... I mean seriously the roads around the bottom of town are treacherous at the mo!

DUMB BITCH! I don't know why it pisses me off but it just does!

Yeah it made me laugh too but the thing is IF she arses off she is gonna be claiming ACC and it will be yet another stat against us motorcyclists and more ammunition in favour of NOT dropping the exorbitant levvies that we pay in our registration...

Same old argument but that never mind cos that is another whole thread...LOL.

All I can say is that it was quite a sight...

Well last Sunday I proved the worth of ATGATT.......dropped the bike in a carpark at about 2mph. Leather trou saved the leg from the gravel rash - just about cut through in one place. Armour saved shoulder and elbow. And that's as slow as you can fall off.......

I guess the vest was a last-minute addition to keep the drizzle off?
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Yep, in the wet isn't too smart, but hey, maybe she justs rides slower to account for the conditions. If she does come off, well shit happens, maybe she'll do something different next time. But then again, maybe it'll only be a scratch and she'll consider the risks worth it.

On the ACC front, sitting here at my desk typing (which is the physical part of what I do all day, the rest is talking and thinking) i consider paying $166.50 a year ACC to ride a motorbike quite a privilege, given that I'm paying over $1,500 for my high risk typing activities.

I spend quite a bit of time in Europe and love the way scooters are such a big part of their lives and how so many people ride them as their everyday transport. The design brief for a scooter was to build something that a woman could ride with a skirt and high heeled shoes, so your "friend" was just using the tool as it was designed, which is how they are ridden in Europe.

was she hot though? [dang, someone beat me to it]

interesting when we were in Melbourne recently, there were a LOT of road safety billboards with fairly graphic depictions of people who had fallen off wearing typical scooter attire: much gore.

obviously a real issue over there and the weather is so much better that the riding season where temptation might suggest insufficient kit is longer too.

LOL! My POINT: She was SOOOOOOO concerned for her safety that she was wearing a high vis vest but she seemed to have forgotten to put on the rest of her 'safety gear'.

The only explanation I could come up with was that she must have been wearing invisible armour!

Yes I got pissed off but really the whole thing is laughable!

That brings up a whole other question - is it better to get pissed off or pissed on?
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
