Looks like lots of good advice already here, good on you for behaving yourself at the time Make sure you get Quotes for OEM Parts, (This is what Insurance companies do)
that way your arse is covered in knowing the money you get out of her will cover parts that Actually fit, not one that just might fit according to a book/catalogue. it'll prob leave you with a bit of extra $ if you end up going after market cheapies

Had similar experience... I know PERFECTLY EXACTLY how you feel...

P.S. My situation was abit different tho, this guy actually took off... Oh one other thing, the "victim" bike was not my bike. That made me piss off even more. Don't worry Justin, it wasn't your bike!

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

    My thoughts are;

    - do no work on replacing anything on the bike.
    - get prices for everything.
    - let her know there is a bill coming.
    - assume that insurance is going to step in on this and you'll need dates, times, witness if any, quotes for work and you can't do anything till it's cleared.
    - you mention she's 16?. So if she's living at home and her folks have home and contents insurance I have a vague recollection that the insurance would cover damage she does like this. You need to talk to your dad and get him to talk with your insurance company about this.
    - if insurance is likely to pay then when you talk with the girl and give her the bill (mentioning the insurance) she may be more receptive.
    - if insurance can't pay for her then you're up for a small claim in which case you'll also need photo's of the before and multiple quotes. You can probably do the work.

If the skid lid dropped off the bike you should be up for a replacement of this as well.

Lastly, next time this happens, enjoy the night out, being pissed about it won't change what happened, it'll still be broken the next day and at least you'd have had a fun night.

Your initial thoughts of doing nothing were fine except why should you pay for damage someone else did.

I hope it all works out well for you. It's always a bummer damaging the bike.

    Is this a trick question?
the old way is still the best....
    "you bend..... you mend"
In other words, she pays as much as it takes to return it to what it was before she broke it. Anything else is just silly, and grossly irresponsible on her part. If she has a problem with that, give all the details to the insurance company and let them pursue the dippy bitch.
    Good luck

When I was doing my sea-cert for diving, I'd parked the car in the carpark, went to the water & geared up. Just before going into the water (at briefing), another dive master came up & asked who's car he'd just hit (with truck & boat on trailer). He'd smashed into the passenger side of the car as forgot the grass was wet & didn't allow extra braking space.
I just asked if you could still open the doors, then told him to give his number etc to the dive master I was with & I'd sort it out later.
The passenger door was bloody hard to open & close and at the end of the day when I looked, it was a mess. But sure as hell didn't stop me having a lot of fun.
Actually felt sorry for the guy, but shit happens. He didn't plan it, nor did I, so why let it ruin the weekend.
Good luck with the fixing up of the bike, def get her to pay full costs - all actions have consequences - if she hasn't learnt that, now's the time.
