Ive witnessed them dropping the whole bottom end on more than 2 bikes with less than 13k, and heard of a shit load more doing it, the chains are prone to coming off and causing accidents, The front brakes always seem to be troublesome, and all this from brand new bikes.
I blew a Piston, which in turn took out the conrod and crankshaft with it, at 17,000Km.
In the middle of nowhere. (Well, Thames.)
So I bought something that's really reliable instead.
"It would be spiteful, to put jellyfish in a trifle."\m/ o.o \m/
how is the honda![]()
My chain came off just past 8000km on the takas however this could be attributed to inadequate maintenance or the chain needing replacement etc.
I also had issues with the clutch not fully engaging - when at the lights in first for example with the clutch pulled in it would still roll forward, even after checking the clutch settings at the bars and engine and taking apart the clutch we couldnt find the problem so i was taking into my motorcycle store and just pulling up back when the engine crapped out with only one piston running and kept stalling unless the revs were held up.
Turned out the timing chain slipped and four valves were cracked and a cam bent, this was at 11250km so technically over the 10000km warranty however after a bit of negotiating and some really good work from my motorcycle store they agreed to cover the replacement parts and labour. It has been known that the timing chains have been a weak point in the gt250s.
Also there was no problem with the clutch plates etc as i had them checked multiple times, i guess its just a wee glitch.
Hyosungs are fun bikes i loved mine for what it was - a simple, cheap and good looking 250 learner bike. There are some issues with build quality especially in the earlier models however over time these should be nutted out as hyosung becomes a mainstream motorcycle manufacturer.
Yea at least mine was my own dumb fault, I have since had a crash course in bike maintaining, which i will add to so i can hopefully do quite a few things myself.
But yea alot of this crap is easily avoidable if there is good efort put in by the rider from the get go (and of course once hyosung actually hire a quality control team)
I should rename the thread "My Hyobag doesn't play nice cos im a doofus"
MAAAAN!!!
Just as i thought the problems with my 'osung were thinning out, my clutch cable snaps ON XMAS MORNING. . . owell haha i have my bike back now, its sitting outside my house and all is well
. kinda.
If you know how to fix it, or have any advice see the thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...45#post1865345
please!! haha
1) Buy a new o-ring chain, oil it once a week and it will last forever ($100 bucks or so)
2) Buy new sintered pads ($45 for a pair)
Any new bike I would expect a few initial wear-in troubles like clutch needs adjusting etc.. I think anyone who expects a bike to be like a car is dreaming you have to know a little about maintenance or get your bike serviced regularly.
I highly recommend ordering one from Richard Jordan he will ship it to you in 3 days once payment clears get a few other maintenance bits while your at it
If you want any help installing it let me know though I'm sure you will find it pretty easy if you have a try getting the adjustment right is harder than installation really.
My bikes clutch cable snapped at 7-8K wife's did the same so now I have sparesas unlike my previous bikes where you can "feel" it beggining to fray/wear out on the Hyos they tend to just snap even though you cant see any fraying wires during normal inspections.
