Id have another Bandit over a new ninja anyday.
I had a bandit as a loaner the other day, and although it feels painfully slow, it still has a top end, and sounds beaufitul. whereas the power delivery on the ninja is utterly boring and sounds poo.

I reckon the new ninja looks pretty similar to the old 80's gpx's and gpz's dressed up in cool new fairings for the posers out there
That's what it is...
Same as any other bike it's just updated.
Their 250 parallel twin line has been long overdue for a style update so it's quite a jump.
I wouldnt laugh about the Ninja 250r - One pulled a wheelie on the ATNR last night
However after talking to someone regarding the replacement costs of a fairing, I was suprised that you would be forking out for $3000 and thats only for one side!

lowsided mine awhile ago.. pics in my ablum..
was about $5000 to fix, majority cosmetic damage..
fairings = bloody expensive
dropping it off a cliff?
is <3 supposed to be a heart or an ass hat?
engine covers and motor parts are expensive and can ean you can't ride it home.... dents/scuffs on chassis are pretty expensive too
atleast fairings protect the bike and are somewhat more optional to repair
then again, those ninja fairings are ridiculously expensive - had insurance considered giving them to a panel beater, the bill would be a shitload cheaper.... heck i got a good condition used set of original full fairings and tank for my old nc30 for all up 650 bucks, and that was a tank from a wrecker and fairings from a dealer! no mates rates involved
Fair point I guess. Apparently Buell's can be a real pain because they end up sliding on the frame. Ouch.
My fairings don't protect my covers at all so I get the worst of both worlds. The same applies to most newer bikes. Funny how the fairings don't get cheaper as they get smaller.
Problem with fairings (for learners) is that you can totally stuff them (cracks etc) by dropping the bike at the lights or other slow speed midhaps. Nakeds should survive that sort of incident unscathed.
I'm interested to know what people have found the top speed.
I got to 170kph on my old fucked '88 model.
The new one gets to an indicated 170. The speedo is accurate up to about 110-120. I dunno after that. Its probably not that accurate.
Again though, if you want top speed on an L-plate, don't buy a ninja. Save up and get an Aprilia. Or, ( shock, horror ) get a car.
For a learner-friendly, good-handling bike that's great fun to ride on twisty roads i highly recommend the Kawasaki.
It does the job it was built for. It wasn't built for the motogp.
