    Heat

With the summer months upon us im finding it very annoying to ride in this heat
Just wandering if anyone has any tips on how to keep cool etc while riding

I find it most annoying right after i stop and then i just start to bake from within

Anyone tried those cool core thingys i see on trademe etc?
Even on the old ones if you dont race serious and you wanna just go do the odd club day and smoke everyone on a big old 5hundy it great and if you get beaten you have a handful of excuses

I usually untuck my shirt, it flaps around and cools me off abit, i dont know why but it works for me lol. Also I sat down and picked all of the mud and crap out of my helmet vents and thats made a huge difference!
My choice is what I choose to do,
And if I'm causing no harm, it shouldn't bother you.

You think you have a problem!!!!!!

come to Queensland mate...like riding in a hair dryer!

Some choose the jandals and singlet strategy, but not me. We can get some pretty good "airflo" gear, but doesn't help much with air temp in the mid 30's.

I bought a cooling vest that works on the basis of evaporative cooler, and is actually rather good. Claims to be good for 7 hrs although on the bike 3 or 4 is more like it.

You can buy online thru safety and workwear places.

I usually pull my shirt through the neck hole and tie it in a knot ala Elly May Clampett.

Nah I've never really overheated. Just keep hydrated and keep moving.

actually there is no law. you can ride without a helmet, without jandals, high on whatever you like and drunk as well.

i just wouldnt reccommend any of that.

note we are in the off road forum.

ride with your fly down on your mx pants, makes an amazing difference

Put ya togs on underneth and randomly stop for a swim, dont dry off....squeeze into bike gear and repeat when needed. Grow your hair long so you keep as wet as possible while riding.

If not on a coastal ride, your screwed

As far as the helmet law goes... it makes NO distinction between on or off road riding. Any where with public access the law applies...

Ive been using those cooler necktie thingees for about five years. trouble is they only work when you remember to take them!!
They slightly chill your two main arteries that feed your brain in the back of your neck- luvverly!

I would be so keen to try the whole over the shoulder and around the neck versions. They would just rock.

people who havent used them think that shey will be wet and slimy... Not at all. they just lower your core temp by a couple of degrees and that is all you need.
If any one is keen I just happen to have a box of about 30 of the neck ties that I have left over from when I used to sell stuff in markets. Just PM me and Ill do them for $5.00 each with free postage.
Retired- just some guy with a few bikes......
