    Cheap car tyres?

My front ones are need of a replacement... sliding around a bit and got a warning at my last wof so it's likely time.

These ones are like what I'm after, 215/40R17.
I've never changed a car tyre but how hard could it be.

Anyone know any sweet places or deals?

You don't get cheap tyres in that size - now if you had 185-70x13 then you could get some real cheap tyres.Oh,the price you pay to look cool eh?

Indeed. I'll just have to go with what I've found then.

What's wrong with those tyres? Plenty of life left IMO!

Go to the bigger tyre dealerships and talk. They often replace full sets on cars that still have legal tread. Ask...

Depends on what you call cheap

You can get the cheap chinese rubbish in that size but I wouldn't put them on my wheelbarrow

Sure you can get cheap /40x17,but they will always be more expensive than a cheap 185 or 175/70x13.I've got Sunny 185/70x13 tyres all round on the Lada - and I reckon they will handle better and last longer than if I had 17's on it.Just about every shit box car I get into these days has 17's on it - they ride like shit and wear out in half the time.Stupid - but good for you tyres guys eh?

Ive a BAXR6 ute which has 17s on from new,i had always done what the reccom tyre pressure sticker said but just the other day when getting a warrant the bloke stuck another 10 pound in them explained why, reckoned i would get heaps more life out of them, definately more noticable round town but on the open road all good.Good advice or a clever tire guy?guess i will find out.

Yeah they reckon the more pressure the better.
Find the max pressure for the tyre and take off 10%

Cheap tyres = Slide off into ditch on wet road imo. For good "used" tyres with lots of life in them, see tyre busters on the north shore. get some good eagle F1's or something.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

My granddad gives his car more of the go-go pedal than this pussy does.

I vote for the tyre made in the most obscure country you can find. Something with lots of "z"'s in it or similar.

    cheap tires

I have Hero hr55 tyres on the rear of my falcon, only ment to be a 6 month stopgap at $69 ea, 15000km later still look sweet, theyve had all sorts of abuse, I realy thought theyd be crap in the rain, but are much better than anything else I have had on this car.
they only let go when you really try, even in the wet, and they make a nice shriek when you pull the handbrake on, hollywood tyres cool.

the real test was 200+ km the other day towing a 1.7t digger on a trailer, plus buckets and tools and sacks of cement, in 35deg weather,
I really expected a blowout but nope, didnt even need to adjust the pressure this morning.....

some chinese tyres may be crap but these ones are fine, and lasting well, I will be looking at using more.
