All that said and done firefighter, you'd be far better off with them than AMI. I'm currently kicking all my AMI policies into touch as the come up for renewal and I'll happily pay more.
Basically a contents claim for motorcycle gear that went horribly wrong. Final straw was receiving a threatening letter from AMI after submitting their customer service survey. I didn't respond to AMI, but I gave the letter to an insurance broker and as far as I'm aware, that letter was photocopied and viewed by almost every other insurance company with disbelief!

    AMI suck!
Yeah I loathe AMI also, but the way we do our bills does'nt allow for direct debit, plus swann is the only company I know that won't let me pay quarterly.....

Now as for KIWIBIKE.....well fuck me, it took 2 MONTHS to process my application, during the first month I had interim insurance- which is minimum- not proprer full cover, I made a payment in October, then cancelled after the month as there was no correspondence, I was fucked around etc, THEN, to top it off, last week I recieve a letter from swann saying I owe them money from October, which I paid on the day I attempted to start the policy...KIWBIKE still has the money as I write this and hasn't handed it over to swann. A fucken debarcle if you ask me.

I think i'm going to go with Vero they've got a good name.

Swann is a subsidiary of ING too which are in the shit as they invested in the crashed U.S banks so i'm staying right away from from that.

IAG - Insurance Australia Group, not ING. They bought NZI a few years back.

You could alway's stagger your premium's so you pay one entire premium every 3-4 months.

They do! My Mrs is a broker, so I leave that shit to her. I can get her opinion if you want it? It's free!

I'm pretty sure Swann is IAG and not ING! Same as State, NZI, NAC etc.

Yeah dude that would actually be very well appreciated......

I did think of staggering the payments but it was'nt really what I was after, I expect a little more fexibility in todays competitive market.....

Re Kiwibike, rang the day I completed purchase of the bandit, said can I insure the bandit as of Saturday, and cancel gsx on Monday.

Yep replied the office lady, explained premium payable monthly, didn't recieve any documents, rang back after 12 days or so,office lady had no details,no problem she said the bike had interim cover, that night I recieved a letter from kiwibike saying my interim policy was about to expire.

Couple of things was my surname and address were incorectly apelt,so flicked Dave an email, reply next day was to say they have approved interim insurance.

Just before xmas(23rd?) I rang kiwibike again,no policy,
Dave explained Swann had to call back workers due to slack processing or immense work load to get through. He was apologetic and we talked about a few things,i.e named rider extra costs/excess.Ended up he may be able to find a competitive quote for my bikes value from another source, and premium the same as for me as sole rider.Funny thing is trying to work out how much my premium would be for the months debit,as I had no documents.
Hello officer put it on my tab

I also said that i would be looking around at prices to see if it would be woth going to my insurance company. I finished the long text by saying that i suggest she tells her parents what had happened.

This was at 11.10 yesterday morning and i didn't recieve a reply so thought i would try again at 5pm when i got off work. I simply said. "if you dont have txts you can acll me at home 123456789."

As im sure your not surprised to hear, i have not yet heared from her.

I did however run into my ex while i was working today. She was with a group of friends of mine. And i asked her if the girl in question had any credit to text atm. She replied with a blunt "no". So wtf i thought, looks like shes going to be a bitcha bout this. Then i finish work and go to talk to my mate (the one that rides) and he said that when they were all talking my ex said something along the lines of "he's still winging on about his bike ffs"
WTF - everything described here was the wrong thing to do! Nothing that has happened has anything to do with your ex and there is no reason to involve her in any way, shape or form. You should not be bringing your problems to your workplace, your ex or anyone.

They didn't have a problem with it and did confirm that she will pay the excess (yeah i know you all said that)

Finally - the right thing. This is what you should have done in the morning following the incident (and none of the other shit you posted). God-damn - I had to read through a lot of pages before the most obvious thing got done!

Do not contact them. Do not reply to them, other than to say that they should communicate with your insurance company, and only with them.

You're just digging yourself a fucking big hole if you continue this way, and are gonna end up paying for the lot yourself.
Good advice! In future and for anyone else that finds themselves in a situation like this - follow this advice.

I am insured with AMI (Car, Household Contents and Scooter) they are charging me $500 per year to insure my scooter for $7K. I have made 2 claims on the car policy in '08 and both times they sorted everything out, car got repaired and I picked it up from the panel beaters without having to pay a cent to anyone. Now that jaymzw has grown a brain and put everything in the hands of AMI I am pretty sure it will be plain sailing and everything will get sorted without any cost to him. Life is much less stressful with full insurance with a company that sorts everything for you.

I kinda understand jaymzw not really knowing how to go about this issue because he is young and hasn't ever had to deal with something like this before. Now he has learnt something and if he has a similar incident he will know to call the insurance company as soon as he can and pass all the relevant details to them - they will tell him what he needs to do and that will be that.

I'm sure I read AA insurance!

As for AMI sorting everything for you? That's true until you find yourself dealing with one of their overzealous claim handler’s and then you’ll find customer service flies out the window!

My dad was with AMI. Then he had some probs with them and went over to the AA. Another reason why dad went to AA at the time was coz they had the classic car insurance. Never really had any probs with the AA.

also isnt NAC is got something to do with AMI? Some one told me that.

Shit, you're right - must try to get more than 4 hours sleep the previous night before reading the forums. At least it had an A in it.

But anyway with AMI I have made 3 claims, my sister is with them and made a couple of claims - so far nothing but great customer service. I have been with them for 9 years and I will stick with them until I have a good reason to change.

I had 10 years worth of history with AMI, excellent record with them. Then my house got knocked over - I lost about $60k worth of stuff including tools - they stuck an investigator on me, and it took six months of shite before they paid out. I had to find receipts for all my Snap On stuff, all the audio gear I lost etc etc. Their problem was that they couldn't see why a suit and tie guy would need tools. FFS. Now the house has a monitored alarm, two dogs, and someone home most of the time. Did I mention that they tried paying out 10 cents in the dollar at first. AMI, what a bunch of wankers. Now with AA for most everything, and with Classic Cover for the bike (have been for years).
It’s diametrically opposed to the sanitised existence of the Lemmings around me in the Dilbert Cartoon hell I live in; it’s life at full volume, perfect colour with high resolution and 10,000 watts of amplification.
